Not necessarily. After last week I very much doubt anyone, from boosters to AD staff, are going to say a word about who we are talking to. In fact, I suspect the news we have heard is probably coming from folks close to that individual and not us.

Two names to keep in mind as the #Tennessee coaching has re-set: #Clemson DC Brent Venables & #SMU head coach Chad Morris. Folks close to Phil Fulmer are big believers in them.

Well, this is interesting because we are hearing Miles is a done deal or close to a done deal, we have also heard Tee and Steele, by some...and Feldman isn't even mentioning those, instead saying Morris and Venables.

Sounds good to me. I'd settle for 6 team playoff with top two teams getting a bye.

Power 5 conference champs plus top ranked non power 5.

Removes almost all of the subjectivity. Win your conference, you're in. This isn't synchronized swimming. Send the judges home.

Yeah, this is the killer. If it was actually going to happen, the UT side might be able to keep a lid on it, but information would be leaking like a sieve from the ESPN side at this point, wouldn't it?

THIS is why UT has been unsuccessful since 2003 (the year Mike Hamilton took over as AD). The AD and the coach have not been on the same page. (Hamilton was a Clemson grad, followed Hart, a Bama grad, followed by Currie, a Wake Forrest grad). Now, we have an AD that understands what support a HC needs and knows what it means to be a Tennessee Volunteer.

I am just pointing out that the conference (of in this case division) winner doesn't always win the whole thing. There's always gonna be some team that is all butthurt over it.

I think it concerns me that a couple of people have now said to anticipate an announcement on Thursday or Friday. Wonder why we seem to need more time?

I mean I’m really good with them taking their time and getting it right but hoping we can get some solid leaks to put minds at ease.

I believe that had Currie been running a search in good faith and not Haslam's con with Schiano, Gruden would be our coach today.

Seriously, tho! If he cared at all for Tennessee Football and it’s fans, he should come out and say he’s not interested, that way it takes a lot of heat off the AD and allows fans to cope and move on. Doing this will definitely help more people get behind the next coach.

Did you read my first post about mitigating subjectivity? Something about polls with equal regional representation, averaging them and ordering accordingly?

Also, the law of averages takes over. Instead of a 13-member panel making appointments, nationally respected polls that are not "loaded" are making the appointments over an average.

As previously stated, agree to disagree. I wish we had football all year, but that's not going to happen. While my love for football is deeper than the seven seas, I want a system that is good for the universities and spectators alike, not the brokers who are making millions off a loaded, speculative approach.

"Gruden till it aint" has worked great, actually... It still "aint" anyone else, therefore it's still Gruden. What about that isn't working?
