But what got him fired was that he was a notoriously mean drunk, an obnoxious SOB that was hated by nearly everyone who had to work with him. He finally pizzed off enough people in power that after losing those games, they fired him.

I'm not naive enough to think that Fulmer said, No no no, you can't fire him, you can't hire me, but I truly do not believe that he schemed to get rid of him. Sometimes the door of opportunity opens, and you walk through it if you have any sense.

The other part of that story is this. Majors had a contract that was signed by the AD that was sitting on his desk and he left if there and refused to sign it. He eventually wadded it up and threw it in the trash at his office.

When it was obvious that he was going to get released, he was digging through his trash and several others, trying to find the contract to sign.

Never happened. I do have a good story about Vanilla Ice, cocaine, and a kitchen fire in the trailer park.

I bought a set of Ping G30's earlier this year...they are not the current top of the line as they have been replaced by something else but they were a couple of years ago...but some pro shops may still have some and you can probably get them at a better price...I did...they certainly are a better club than I am a player...of course had to have a new bag for them

Was amazing he could do what he did for so long. He won a national title in Pittsburgh. He had some damned good teams here. Alcoholism is a degenerative condition, and it really is a hell of a thing.

I think he's a great man. He's done a lot. I vaguely remember when it went down. Fulmer came in and set the world on fire, and when Johnny came back, it was the same old ****.

Johnny is a great Vol, who, back in the day, had a lot of issues. Still a Vol legend!

Phillip took over and made TN Great Again!
