Okay, laying all my cards out on the table specifically concerning PV.
I believe he is Atlanta Vol. Same guy, different name. And I believe he is a legitimately good, kind and generous person. I also believe he has access to the UT administration in a way that only big-$$ boosters get. I don't doubt him one bit on a personal level.
But I absolutely question his professional goals in all this. Don't know where he wants to take this fight with Haslam, or why.
And I'm not into fighting battles whose purpose can't be explained. Or won't be.
So, PV/AV/anyone else on this team can explain it, if they will. Or I'm not on board.
I'm going back to the basics: get a good AD, then get the best coach we can. All the back-room deals and efforts can fend for themselves.
I'm not angry, just curious and skeptical. If my words give off any emotion other than those, forgive my ability to be more clear.
Go Vols!
Started thinking more about affecting behavior/diminishing harmful influence and came around to this.
Pilot/Flying J recently sold of a sizeable percentage of the business to Berkshire Hathaway. They are scheduled to sell most of the rest of the business in 2023, with Haslam family only controlling a 20% stake at that point.
Recent actions have led to a widespread boycott in Vol country. That hurts a little. If, as the rock says, we're the Tennessee Browns at this point, why couldn't they become the Cleveland Vols? I wasn't able to pull up a map on my phone, but it looks like there are 39 locations in the state of Ohio (in addition to 31 in Tennessee). That's 10.3% of their 775 locations in those two states alone. Hmm... could hurt a little more.
At a certain point, current minority shareholder Berkshire Hathaway might get a little miffed if their bottom line is being affected by sophomoric meddling and power plays. I would even imagine, as careful as Warren Buffett is, that there might be certain pain points built into their acquisition contract regarding personal actions by the chairman and the CEO that decrease the value of the enterprise.
Thoughts?
When I was in the college we used to love jammin to Rage before hittin the strip. I can't think of a more appropriate song for where we are at this point than this one...

To all,
Thank you for making a decision that will begin to salvage UT's reputation.
You have someone sitting inside UT, a man who wept when he was pushed out of the place where he brought us the first National Championship of the BCS era, a man who from the outside looking in, I believe would do anything he could for the University.
I don't know if Mr. Fulmer is qualified to be an Athletic Director, but I think he is the right man for at least an interim role to bring in a football coach that will make all Tennessee fans proud. (And ready to open their wallets.)
You cannot promote someone that was brought back into the Athletic Department by the man you just fired. Reid Sigmon will not indicate you have changed what is happening behind the scenes at the top of your booster pyramid.
Charles Davis would seem to have both the orange blood and the qualifications to be Athletic Director in the long term as well.
Tennessee fans everywhere trust you will make the right decision.
Never say never,
I just realized that Larry Pratt (Pratt Pavilion) is a friend of my husband's family. He was my brother in law's roommate in college. He isn't on the Board is he?
