What did deer hunter originally say? Sorry guys I had to remove myself from this thread. I was down but damn it I'm back in now

He said we’d have Gruden as our coach for sure! Probably by this weekend. Told us to book it, I believe, then tried to make a bet with GV which included backsides. Don’t ask. :)

Media looking to blame someone instead of just saying Currie was an incompetent yes man. Have to have something to keep the story going for the clicks. Phil trying to block the Haslam picks is the same as what we are doing, isn't it?

Haslam Machine controls what the media is saying!

BUENOS GRUDOS!!!!!

Don't rest until we get Gruden to The Hill!!!

Oh Jimmy......late to the party again huh?

No one knows what's going on JP. I'm not clear on what you're doing this morning. Are you trying to ask someone that thinks they know what is really going on, to explain to you what's really going on?

What I'm doing this morning is really simple, Behr.

I'm trying to figure out where we are going, and how we intend to get there?

As part of that, I'd like to know if this really is a two-pronged assault. We've got the public side of it covered, protesting bad coaching choices, sabotaging Currie until he gets fired or pushed aside, making life miserable for those who we believe aren't smart or capable enough to act in the Vols' best interest.

But is there a second prong in the background, in board rooms and offices, being waged by the Big Boosters not named Haslam? And if so, what's their objective? Really? In detail? Because it may not be exactly the same as ours. It may be a power struggle that exchanges one meddling billionaire for others ... with no evidence that any of them are better for the program.

And if they do have an objective we can all rally behind, how exactly do they intend to contribute to this effort? All I've seen so far is us, the rabble, pushing forward. Haven't seen any lifting of any fingers elsewhere. Nor any of them explaining how they're helping. All I've seen them do is cheer us on.

So, it's simple. I'd like to know what objective(s) we're pursuing. And how folks mean to get there.

I really just want to get back to us finding a Gruden, or failing him a Patterson or Peterson for our team. And if all those are now closed doors (they very well may be), at least a decent coach.

See? Simple.

Ok. I am saying this and no more. The reports about Phil will start to circulate he undermined John. So that may eliminate him. David is not a candidate from what I understand as of last night. He is dealing with other “things”. Charles has AD experience is a national sportscaster and is orange to the core. I see him as the only shot to get orange blood in the chair. So do many others so we need the fans to rally around him and see if we can get him home.

Thanks for all the info you bring.
I just forwarded my earlier email to Davenport and DiPietro with the following added:

"If reports are true, I would like to thank you and the Leadership team. We'll done.

For your consideration, I would like to propose Charles Davis as another very viable candidate as UTAD.*

Phillip Fulmer is a very good option (while I understand the media is being unkind). VN knows that Phillip is 120% Vol and would welcome him.

I understand that David Blackburn may have some issues he is dealing with and given your willingness to make the hard choice of standing up to the Haslams, I will trust you will get a UTAD that is ALL VOL."

Careful...because you don't just blindly agree you might find your head getting digitally chopped off...

(I agree with your post 100%)

The objective is an independent AD that does not bow to the House of Haslam. Period. It doesn't really matter who the coach ends up being. We must ensure that a permanent AD whose blood runs orange is in place. That will lead to the return of excellence for the Athletic department, which is what this has always been about. Gruden, and these threads, has always been about not settling for mediocrity anymore.
