Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVI

This is beginning to remind me of the French Revolution. Particularly the phase they called The Terror.

After the revolt started, just pure energy from the masses, there was really no single person or group in charge. Just a rabble.

Then the Girondins gained a degree of control. They wanted limited power for the monarchy, and more economic and social freedom. They were like the middle class in charge.

Well, they eventually got rolled by the Jacobins. These were the masses, the lower class, only this time organized. They believed in mob power, but didn't respect any individual in the mob, just the mob as a whole. They're the ones who started chopping off heads.

Well, after a while it became evident that all the Jacobins could do was say "no" to everything they had no real way forward, so the Exiles took over. And chopped off all the heads of the leaders of the Jacobins.

And so it went. [admittedly a hugely simplistic synopsis of the French Revolution]

...

What's my point?

(1) we're a mob at this point, moving forward without a clear objective. We can say "no" to a lot of things, but "yes" to very little (other than Gruden, but there's no evidence of any concrete path that leads to his door, much less to him signing on).

(2) we're eating ourselves. The Terror was known for that. It was said that The French Revolution, at its worse, was France eating her own children. So why stop at Currie, or Davenport, or Haslam, some now want us to metaphorically chop Phil Fulmer's head off, push Blackburn aside, and go for Davis. Where does it stop?

(3) no one is in charge. There are no real leaders to this movement. Those who pretend to lead, Beav and Bubba and AV and Paul, they are apparently nothing more or less than rabble rousers, cheering from the sidelines. Haven't provided any evidence they're actually doing anything, or even explained in detail what they're supposedly attempting.

So yeah...we have a social movement. And we've apparently gotten Currie fired (which was, admittedly, a smart step).

But where the hell do we think we're going? That's the game plan, in detail? What's the end game? What's the objective?

Careful...because you don't just blindly agree you might find your head getting digitally chopped off...

(I agree with your post 100%)

Coastal22 on VQ...

"With Currie gone, and Haslam needing to get out of the heat/intense negativity of the state...the other boosters who blocked all these other hires and Fulmer can go after Gruden with a real, and really big offer. Removing Currie was step 1. Curtailing Haslam influence was step 2. Gruden will never be in a better position to get all of the $, control, and power he wants than right now. UT is desperate not to lose booster money, donations, the fan base, etc. And it's time to not be negligent or rogue and actually make JG a university-led (not private offer). If he says no, you still have a floor with guys like Les, Leach, Tee. We are in a much better spot now, whoever we get."

It's time to fire the Grumors back up!!!

And just like that boys and girls we are back online!..all systems go,the pattern is NOT! Full, send it send it!!! Clips full of gruden ready to ride locked and loaded MODS PLEASE ADVISE ALL LURKERS THE GOOD FELLAS HAVE TAKEN BACK THE HILL AND VOLNATION THIS A GRUDEN THREAD I REPEAT THIS A GRUDEN THREAD

Ok. I am saying this and no more. The reports about Phil will start to circulate he undermined John. So that may eliminate him. David is not a candidate from what I understand as of last night. He is dealing with other “things”. Charles has AD experience is a national sportscaster and is orange to the core. I see him as the only shot to get orange blood in the chair. So do many others so we need the fans to rally around him and see if we can get him home.

why isn't blackburn a candidate?
i'm so confused.

Translation: Phil is temporary and can't be the AD because it looks toxic to coaching community. Blackburn is busy working on Gruden stuff.... We need someone to step in as AD.

Earlier someone from the Carolina Panthers organization said that they contacted them about someone on their staff. My guess is that was Steve Wilks....who I assume worked with Dale Jones at App state....maybe they are getting the band together....

Brother of Rod Wilks?

Why aim for the brother when we can instead bring the legend himself. THIS is the only solution to ALL our current woes.

Woah, woah, woah! Slow down there sea-biscuit. PV’s been extremely straightforward. He’s been “the” only person who’s been accurate on everything he’s said. Just take this morning, he told us that he wasn’t sure on if Currie was fired but he told us the reason why he would be if he was. Now, it’s being reported an hour later that that’s exactly why. He’s giving us the short of it because he’s prob in meetings and very busy. Be grateful for the tidbits he can give us.

Paul has said nothing on these boards that wasn't already on these boards from another source. Go back and look; you'll see.

If Paul is truly connected to those driving this "Booster Battle" movement, let him explain the objective and the path being taken to that objective. In detail. Describing more than simply what we're doing already.

I've never seen a single person do that. In almost three weeks since the coaching search started, I've never seen anyone explain that. Have you? If so, please link.

If not, you're just as blind as the rest of us, only you're happy to keep following along. That's fine, if that's what you choose to do.

I'm stuck on doing what's best for Tennessee and our football program. Which may not be 100% the same as whatever's going on in the background.

Since CD left UT he has"

- DB coach at Pacific under Walt Harris
- Director, US Olympic Center in Colorado Springs
- Assoc. AD at Stanford
- Director of the start-up of Disney's Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando
- Broadcasting

I think that's it. May have missed something. Wonderful human being.

Tony B bringing it today.....

Quick ?, SI ....what is the connection...they are neck deep in this , they are basically irrelevant but still seem to be very connected inside on this cluster of a mess.... I wonder if there is a MIT_Beaver connection? no clue just wondering if anyone has a theory??
