Remember when Currie delivered the presser about Butchs firing? Did Currie not say he had to have a coach by a certain date or we would have a new AD? I may be wrong here but anyone remember what date that was?
Pulled up the transcript from the presser. This is all he said about time line for new coach.

The early signing period being from Dec. 20-22 is new and uncharted territory for all us to some extent. Ultimately, we have to make the decision that we believe is in the best interests of the student-athletes that we have here at the University of Tennessee right now - some are approaching graduation and others are playing their last two games in Neyland Stadium over the next couple of weeks - while we also look at the long-term future of our program. It is a variable that is new, but the core values in how we make decisions remains the same

it was told by adrian martinez (? the qb recruit) in an interview. he said, currie told him the recruits would know who the coach is by x date, or he'd be out of a job. (pretty sure that's right)

If your daughters played for pat I know who you are 😁😁😁

He said many of us knew him last night but that he'd changed his handle for this. You think he's legit Suave?

GV guessed Catbone and several others last night.

Priceless

So credible folks on VQ speculating on Curries’ whereabouts, apparently unaccounted for by staff?.....anybody?

“I’ve heard that he’s completely disappeared. Not like earlier in the search where he was hiding his travels. Hes nowhere to be found.

He’s not been answering call from high level boosters, his #2, or his administrative assistant. People who have been assisting him with the search since the beginning can’t get a hold of him. No one has a clue where he is or what he’s doing.”

Hoping he disappeared less like "Sneak Greg Schiano in at Midnight" and more like how Jimmy Hoffa disappeared.

If there was any truth to the Grumors, if Gruden would just come out and say "I'm interested in the Vol job" that would put intense pressure on admin.

Let me go ahead and put this falsehood to rest.

Kiffin is wanted by almost 90% of the fan base. He has said he would listen to an offer. Does he have an offer? Nope. Same would go for Gruden if he says he would be interested.

Here for the duration even if the outlook is bleak!

By all appearances Haslam is maintaining his control over the board with all these below average candidates and offers. Crazy to think that he can still exert this kind of control over the coaching search while in the midst of a huge trial against Pilot. I would venture to say that he has been using the media firestorm over our coaching search as a smokescreen for the media coverage of the Pilot trial. The Pilot trial has been buried beneath the worst coaching search in the history of NCAA football.

It's a shame that the other big money boosters won't put a stop to this coaching search and sit Currie on his behind and put Haslam in the corner. Eventually Haslam and Currie are going to stick us with a dud - and dud includes Miles and Sumlin - both failed retreads. If we can't have Gruden then hell just give us Kiffen or Tee (if Tee give him 5 mill a great staff).

That said this just plain sucks the life out of you.

All I'm saying is that a gruden hire could already be planned out but all of the details we don't know makes it more complicated. People aren't talking for a reason. If Currie HAD to find a coach I can guarantee someone would take it. He's not looking for a coach, they've already got one. This is just a formality. Obviously gruden would have bad press for being known as the coach through all this. The deterioration of Schianos reputation would most likely be put on him. Its safer for everyone to make it look like he was choice 6 instead of 1. It would've made the fans look worse too, because we would've fell right into the medias trap that we didn't want Schiano for his record and not his morals if gruden was announced the next day and people overjoyed

one thing's for sure, no one can point to gruden and say he had this job before butch was let go ... not now. before, yes, but not now.
