Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

Remember the Tylenol crisis? And how they were on TV rather quickly, pulled all of their stuff off of the shelves, owned up to their being a problem, didn’t wait, etc.?

Why on earth have Currie and Davenport just put out statements instead of trying to get ahead of this?

It’s full on crisis PR time and... silence.

If we legitimately hire the NC State guy over a Kiffin/Tee/Kevin S. package they have to know that will come out and ruin them.

You’ve got former players now tweeting a “wtf” brand of comments.

You’ve got Will McBride tweeting “wait none of this makes any logical sense”.

Seriously what on earth is going on?

They’ve lost complete and utter control of this administration and program. The statements they released said little to nothing. Now, it’s come down to a lot of extremely frustrated fans now finding their voice. Davenport and the like can hide in the ivory tower but they can hear the voices.

Question is how do they quiet them?

When these threads got started again this year, 13 I think, I was told to gtfo because I said Gruden would never happen.

I got interested in Beaver and the theory. It was fun and it actually made sense, even though I really didn't buy it.

I started questioning everything and everyone, on both sides.

I finally got to the point of feeling I needed to commit to one side or the other. "You gotta stand for something or you'll fall for anything".

No one knows what's going to happen with this chit show. All kinds of things going on that some said wasn't realistic, never happen. Things even I said was stupid, right before it happened.

Guess what I'm saying is, I decided I had enough info to think Gruden was possible. I feel I need to stick with it until I'm proven wrong, which I probably am, but even though its was and is unlikely, its not not over. I'm not wrong. Yet.

It seems disappointment is inevitable at this point. Might as well be disappointed that Gruden doesn't happen and we get Deorean (sp),than he doesn't happen and we get worse.

I know. Tl;Dr.

It is well documented how I was off and on because this at times always seemed like a pipe dream... I must admit that it still does...

Yet I have invested so mush time and effort in the game, that I now MUST see it to the very end... like you, I think there is a great chance we are disappointed again.... But we are NOT disappointed yet..

So I am still in ... It's Gruden till it's Not!

With that many upper level execs involved it seems very likely it came from the very top. And from the people I have talked to this scam and others have been going on for quite some time.

Judging from the way he controls UTAD, you know he micro-managed everything at PILOT. We lose this war, I'm done with everything-UT. I love that place, but now that I know what I know (or believe anyways), there's no turning back for me. Not going to support an institution that is funded by dirty $.

You only need to remove Haslam from the hire. Power loss. Regardless of what he can try and do after this fact, once a new AD is in he loses this battle.

Moving forward, he can continue on with his agenda but it won't matter in terms of what has happened , he was negated and made null and void on this decision for a coach. This is the battle first and foremost as it is the point of the exercise, getting the coach.

I think it's time to stop all of this, we are looking bad. I believe the best thing we can do as a fan base now is to show how much we just don't care. No games, no merchandise definitely NO DONATIONS, don't attend team events of any kind. I know it sucks but to remove the rot that is deep within the University this must be done. My guess is 2-3 years and Has-slums will be out along with their butler Currie and we have to hope those that take their place will see what happened and care about the school. Acting like a bunch of unhappy teenage girls isn't going to stop them and it makes the fans look worse than the administration. Wait till they announce the coach and no ones there to hear it. Ticket sales drop to almost nothing. That's when they will start to hear us.

Doeren gets hired he will do sub-par here IMO. Prob a good guy and all, but will lose fan support in a big way

I don’t understand something. If I’m Currie and I am the most hated person in Tennessee and my career is probably in the can anyway, why wouldn’t I go out with a bang and camp on Gruden’s doorstep like the Bama AD did, and make Gruden publicly tell me no. Supposedly if he gets turned down again, he’s gone, so if I’m him, I get turned down by the biggest there is. And I do it publicly.

Simple. Because Haslam won’t allow that to happen. He’s Currie’s puppet master. He controls the strings.

A lot of people think the Gruden thing is stupid. I think that's fair. Seriously, after the last time, I can't blame them, I started out feeling the same.

I think its also fair for me to think its stupid for a bunch of people knowing and bishing about the administration for years, and want to let them hire this NCST guy.

The main issue I have with this $hit show, is that not only will we potentially end up with a less than mediocre hire, but all great assistants will be hired by other coaches that are already being put in place. I already have given up on any type of successful recruiting class. We truly are at Critical Mass; it HAS to be a great hire or the football program we all love is dead...

When hope is lost...

ALL is lost.

We were told from the very beginning that this would get ugly. It is human nature to take the easy route.

There is a reason why people were sent to warn us.

The plan is working.

I can promise you that the end result will all be worth it.

In case anyone missed this last night:

JAV and Blackjack999 are spilling the beans and answering all questions on 247. Summary:
Gruden did not sign a MOU. Boosters, led by Anderson and made several offers to Gruden, but he had not accepted them. They were going to meet with him on Sunday and make a formal offer, including a very "Orange staff", but the Schiano news came out. "That ship has not only sailed, it's sunk". Mullen was never contacted by UT. Mullen contacted UT twice and was told they would talk to him after Egg Bowl. Mullen waited 2 days after the Egg Bowl and never received a call from UT. Only then, he went to UF. Blackjack: "Never seen such a sheering of sheep." Schiano was Currie's guy all along. Lied to boosters and thought he could sneak him in the back door, but donor revolt stopped it. Don't think a formal offer from AD was made to anyone other than Schiano. Called Peterson twice, but made no offer. If Doeren is hired, nuclear option--"Their masks will be removed".

If Currie is fired, wouldn’t Haslam just replace him with another yes man/woman? I’m starting to feel a little hopeless here.

Well said!

I really hope the good guys win....we win...because a lot of people are giving their ALL for Tennessee. Physically, financially, emotionally.

I think the General would be proud.

How bad will it be if Currie hires a coach that makes fans start a BBB (bring back Butch) movement, that seems like this kind of hire.
