Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

Beaver, we are tired troops fighting solo against an unseen enemy with no proof other than a few vague statements. I believe the message you stand for appreciate your efforts, but until a leader emerges, someone with an actual name that means something to this university and fan base, to unite us and show us proof of who and what we are fighting, people will lose their way.

This👆🏼

If he hired Gruden, I would watch. He won't, because Gruden won't work for him at this point.

If John Currie hires ANY other coach, I'm still out. Because that means Haslam is still in charge.

and THIS👆🏼100%

I know Brohm is not the big name people want, but if it fell to him I believe he would do very well.

Went to grad school at Middle. I've seen his teams in person when he was at western ky. There are a couple of things that you all would like about him.

1. Great offensive mind. He developed two QB's Brandon Doughty who lit it up a couple of years ago and Mike White (who was terrible at USF) and led the nation in passing last year.

2. Confident and cocky. If hired he would be like our version of a younger Spurrier when he left Duke and went to UF.

3. Comes from a football family and good coaching lineage. He's part of the Petrino tree and when it's all said and done I believe he will have a better career than Petrino. I actually already think he is a better coach than Petrino.

So, TIFWIW.

Brohms stats are EXCELLENT, especially with context of where those programs were. He plays D and can recruit. I would support.

No offense to anyone, but its safe to say no one really knows anything. Even if they do, their info could be incorrect by the time they finish posting it.

Its a message board. Post it if you got it. But believe it at your own risk.

No they do!..maybe not as far a coaching search goes but the University yes and that's proven because of Atlanta_Vol the people are here they just quiet but now is the time they don't need to be at all if they give a damn about this university

Did we ever think we’d see the day where discussing Kiffin’s return would happen?

I certainly didn’t.

I'm still not on board with that douche. The day it happens is the day I'm no longer a Vols fan. I'm sorry, but I just can't support that hire. There's no way on God's green earth I'm willing to settle for Kiffin. We're better than that and deserve better.

Please continue to fight, VolNation. My recent email can be seen below.

Dr. DiPietro and Chancellor Davenport,

I hope this email is well-received, but most of all, I hope the detailed concerns are addressed in an effort with UT, its students, alumni and fans in the forefront.......
D
Respectfully,

I have been emaing my own personal version as well.
No answer as well.

They know the deal - it is their legacy. Their move. We shall see.

I wonder if Coach Gruden can’t say anything on advice from counsel because he is sitting there with a signed MOU and is having to wait out Tennessee’s ultimate decision before he can take any sort of legal action... Did he give notice to ESPN? Did he purchase the Haslam house (maybe to try to make peace with the family)? His silence is deafening!!!!

I don't think they underestimated him per say, I think if what Beav says is true, I think that they thought that with all their combined might that they thought it would be enough to scare Haslam.

Obviously Haslam called their bluff, he looked them right in the eyes and spit in their's.

He pulled out his grapefruit sized marbles and slapped them on the table and dared anyone to test him.

They then backed down. The only one who had any stones about him/her is that supposed Assoc AD who leaked the Schiano deal.

Again, to this day, after all we know, no one can change my mind that Haslam/Currie didn't have all this planned from the beginning, Schiano was their guy and no one else was getting an interview/call, and it was only the fans who caused Haslam to flinch.

Cause if they didn't make him flinch, he wouldn't have had Bill come out and say that they had nothing to do with the attempted hiring of Schiano.

So now the question is, how nasty does this have to get to get Haslam gone. Apparently the boosters can't/won't do it.

Take it to the fans, give some crazy fan the info that is supposedly bad on Haslam and let the fans run with it.

One of two things will happen, either Haslam will have no choice but to step away from the University, or the fans will get such a bad rep that no one will wanna come here and we'll finally take our place at the bottom of the SEC basement.

At this point, what do we have to lose?

They didn't underestimate Haslam...
They knew exactly what they were getting into.
And their plan is working.

Personally it's to the point I wish these insiders would stop hiding behind thier sources and tell all ,so we can help in the change in a major way...phone calls and emails won't do the damage...pull the money start canceling things at once

I said the same thing a few pages ago, and I 100% agree with you. If we want this to swell into a nationally covered story, which would bring serious pressure onto the university, we HAVE to have the ammo to go after Currie/Haslam. Without it, we only have calls/emails.

People reporting Morris has said no to us. This is beyond embarrassing now. Very worrisome. We’re complaining about coaches we don’t want, and the truth may be that no one wants us.

I guess Butch and Barb are having a laugh somewhere.

I don't see any small time coach saying yes at this point because they know the fans are going to hate it and they'll be starting at a disadvantage. I also don't see any big names taking it, so basically we're screwed. At this point I'd say get Tee and let him bring in a solid staff and hope for the best. At least he's a VFL and will care.

I haven't given up. I'm still emailing and tweeting and otherwise doing what I can. I just have a fixed exit point.

“It doesent matter who he hires... I’m out”

You know he’s going to hire someone and so do I.
It’s not because we’re all pushing emails and tweets
It’s becauae the brass doesent give 2 ****s about the people that come to games.
If they did Currie would have been out on the first thing smoking.
He’s not and refuses to call anyone who could begin to get the fans onboard.

I believe this is probably only the second time I have posted anything in this thread and on this board other than attempting to obtain tickets.

I am what I guess most of you would consider one of those casual fans as I don't have the money to donate but we as a family do attend a game a year and watch ALL the Vols football games and Lady Vols basketball and softball games. I have fired off emails to everyone I could think of to let them know that this family will NOT be in attendance at any event until something changes. I tweeted more last night than I ever have in my life. I would like to say to those that have been here forever I have learned a lot from you guys and am doing all I can as a casual fan. Hope this helps y'all to know that there are some casual fans that are trying to help as well.

*** Not that THEY care!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!
