Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

It’s all part of the plan. The deal was worked out the end of last season. Currie was brought in as the fall guy, must of ticked off Haslam when he was here before. They knew Butch’s days were numbered. Gruden wanted to help a few of his coaching buddies get salary bumps, and get back at Schiano for how he treated the Tampa players.
We fire butch, help Mullen, Gundy, and some others get a pay bump, and get back at Schiano for Tampa. The anger at Haslam provides a media distraction from his court case.
Gruden will come back from a commercial break next week on MNF, wearing an orange suit, carrying two Corona’s, and flanked by Hooters girls. He will shake up the Corona’s and open them like champagne, say “BOOM, To The Hill,” and Rocky Top will start playing.

I'll have what this guys having

Not sure what you mean, but you're welcome.

Really not in the mood to entertain trolls at the moment.

I like this thread because its kinda like a "sidebar" thread. I feel I can't post about many football subjects without derailing a topic thread.

Obviously I'm like everyone else, but I sure would like to know the details on a bunch of stuff. Gruden, Peyton, Beaver, Bubba, Haslam, Egren, Blackburn, Tee etc.

Oh well. We still don't have a coach.

This is crazy. All of it.

Subscribe to pretty much all of this.

Calm down tough guy. Schiano is anything but a 'very good guy' on all accounts. He has a tone of character baggage in the media.

Seriously. How does anyone defend schiano? The character issues and coaching record make him a nightmare all the way around. Really shows how incompetent currie is.

I am really down this morning and it really has nothing to do with Gruden. It's just become painfully obvious that we have fired a clown and will most likely end up with another one. My fandom is on life support but I will stick to my word and hang in there until the next coach is officially announced.

Ok, so we all agree that Currie has to go. At this point, it's a crime he hasn't called Tee. And if Peyton is getting in the way of Tee, then that changes my opinion of him as well.

Would have loved to have gotten Gruden. Obviously something happened, he didn't want the job, someone(Currie) ticked him off or something. Bottom line is he ain't coming. Time to move on. VN looks like the silly high school girls chasing after a boyfriend they can't have when we keep this stuff going. can we please move on?

I agree 100 percent. I am also really down.

Blackburn has to be AD and it’s imperative that we don’t rush to give Tee the job. The future of the program is far more important than pacifying VFL’s as soon as possible.

Pretty obvious now that all the talk about a civil war between boosters, Currie and Haslams are nothing but mid level boosters.

If this were diamond boosters, something would’ve already been done. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see anything happening at all. Status quo.

Exactly. I could not feel like a bigger fool for buying into that theory, hook line and sinker. I was 100% sold this was happening.

Don't think hardly any of us expect Gruden at this point. But I like the people in this thread a lot better than what's out there.

I’m sure there’s room for you in the Morris thread.

I agree here. Those mid level guys rallying together are not enough or they didn’t get enough of them together. I applaud them for their passion in doing so if they are legit

It’ll be easier for you to just ignore us. It’s simple.

Sort of off topic, and maybe it’s been brought up, but if we offered 42mil to Gundy, doesn’t sound like they’re worried about Schiano buyout.

I am afraid if there was ever anything to the Grumors it's completely dead now. I wouldn't waste any time on attempting to decipher much from his radio appearance this morning. I believe if there was any chance left he would have at least discussed the situation at Tennessee. The fact that he didn't just tells me he wants to completely distance himself from the dumpster fire or there was never any real connection to the situation at all.

The connection was very real. I don't think anything was signed by Gruden like some others think, but there was interest and offers thrown out. Unfortunately you are correct saying the ship has sailed. If something isn't done to remove Currie and put Haslam in check we will stay where we are now, the bottom half of the SEC. This can be salvaged with putting a real AD in and starting a real search. It will set us back some next year because of timing, but next year is not very promising no matter who the coach is.

Ironically I see this turning out just like the Kansas State hire. They'll bring back the old guy- in our case CPF to right the ship and buy time to get stable. He will put together a VFL staff IF they let him.*
I am laying in bed this morning thinking about writing my " I give up you can have it" letter to the powers that be. Im a former graduate, usher, season ticket holder, financial donor. But it's as Currie puts it "exhaustive search" mood perpetually. I'm exhausted from it all. My family deserves more of my time and efforts than UT these days.

It's clear now that once again UTAD made no approach to Gruden. In fact UTAD trolled the fan base with the fake flight plans.

I firmly believe Gruden reached out to us in the Seattle interview. He let us know he wanted to talk.

If anyone not named Haslam was governor, the entire coterie of stupid would have been removed by now, root and stem starting with Davenport and Currie.

I feel the same way. After all of this is over, we should keep this thread going. Just renamed to something like The Official VolNation's Finest Thread I.
