I have a direct first hand contact in the President's office. I asked this precise question about whose side the Prez is on and he said he's not even sure.

I get the sense that everyone has been so blown away by all this nobody knows what to do.

Fulmer was a significantly better coordinator than Tee. Significantly better.

I've thought through this scenario as well.... however there seems to be too much collateral damage from what would essentially be smokescreening. Would love for Gruden to be announced and fulfilling the original prophesy of Currie looking like he saved everything at the last minute. :ermm:

Don't you know!? Gruden, being sympathetic to other coaches is helping UT get a bunch of other coaches raises before they announce him as HC. Geez man, keep up.

Let the build up get louder and louder until it’s overwhelming. Hire Tee and be a hero. Would be impossible to fire him then.

Rev, I also believe that Tee is their last Gambit. That's why I laid out, or tried to, why it is absolutely one of the worst results we could see. It would not only further Haslam control at UT, it could ruin the career of a true vfl before it has truly even started.

We must fire Currie first!

I have a question that I hope someone may have insight into. Maybe I'm "misremembering", but early in this process, weren't reports that part of what made Gruden possible, was that PM was onboard for some marketing/fundraising to persuade or sweeten the pot for some entity so that it could happen?

If this is the case, then why all the reports now that PM was onboard with the Schiano hire?

What happened that made this deal go so far south as far as Peyton is concerned?

Assuming he’s not FOS (big assumption), shouldn’t be hard to triangulate who it would be. Any pair of sisters who work at UT AD? One of which had lady Vols players daughters? What puzzles me more than the information that’s “out there” is the information that isn’t. Why have we heard no defense really from Davenport or DePietro? Why are we hearing no rebuttal from Haslams other than what Bill said about the Schiano deal? Why is Peyton not defending himself? Why are we hearing nothing from Jon Gruden or his agent? It’s like shouting into a well and just hearing echoes. Is anyone really listening among those I mentioned?

Because they feel time is on their side and think we will get tired of hearing nothing and just give up. What they don't understand is the passion of the Tennessee fan base. I will not buy any Tennessee gear and I would hope you folks in Tennessee empty Neyland going forward. :rock::rock::rock:

the only flaw in Deerhiunter's story is that he said he was told by two (2) different camps about Gruden coming. If they separately told the Deer, I'm sure they told other as well, the others told others and the next thing you know we all know. Just say'n......

That's what I've been thinking...maybe let haslams decision fall flat on its face in front of everyone to set up gruden, while also interviewing to keep attention on the coaches and not gruden. Heck every coach it seems has gotten something out of it. Maybe that's why nobody's called Tee about the HC and he's been on Grudens staff all along. It's falling into place it seems

Except that logic doesn't explain Schiano. That one wasn't good for anyone. Maybe Gundy/Brohm/Doeren, but not Schiano.

I actually think (or maybe hope) enough people in power realize Tee Martin would potentially be a complete disaster. There’s no reason to think he could do this job at all.

He’d unite the fans for sure and probably do a good job. I just think the excitement would wear off and his inexperience would catch up.
