I don't think that particular quote being from Beav has anything to do with it. It's really common sense. If Currie goes, UT should be able to get a top coach within 2 days. Heck Miss St already hired a coach.

the TN AD is leaking the names of possible coaches to gauge the fanbase's reaction of the hire...

I'm with you on everything except Schiano being a smokescreen. Currie offering Schiano or even floating his name as a cover for Gruden is downright dumb.

How so? Davenport mysteriously didn't sign the MOU?? The only thing they got wrong is the fecal storm that transpired afterwards. I doubt there was any anticipation of Schiano's involvement with Sandusky to be tweeted all over the place...bets on Haslam hiring Schiano on the Browns? He owes him now, cuz he sure didn't get him a pay raise, which is what's happened EVERYWHERE ELSE. And I'm no insider that was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, just some schmoe that was born with a tin foil hat.

Humans do not like ambiguity and seek to find meaning and patterns in everything. Stare at a screen of static long enough and you'll begin to see images.

Unfortunately for us, it means we're probably reading a lot into this total chaos. I genuinely believe this is just gross incompetence of the highest level. Nothing more, nothing less. Currie sucks at his job and can't handle the mounting pressure, thus the randomness of moving from Schiano to Gundy to Sumlin to whoever is next.

FWIW, most of the reliable people I’ve seen say Gruden, both now and in 2012, are now saying it’s off the table.
