John Currie's 11/12 letter when Butch was fired:
We now turn our attention to an exhaustive search to identify a coach of the HIGHEST INTEGRITY and CHARACTER with the skills and vision to return Tennessee football to CHAMPIONSHIP form. Our commitment to doing what it takes to hire the ABSOLUTE BEST coach for the University of Tennessee is resolute.
Did Currie even write this? Did he even read it for that matter? Somebody read it to him please and explain it.

No. Didn't you see how many times he had to look at the podium to read it? It was probably the first time he had even seen it.

Guys.

Don't get distracted by this coach, that coach or the other coach. Focus on FIRE CURRIE.

As soon as Currie is fired, we need to IMMEDIATELY call for Blackburn. In full force.

Then, THEN, we call for the very best coach for Tennessee, who HAS NOT SAID NO.

Let me state again, I am not an insider. I have seen what happens to those folks in here! IMO This looks a lot like they are trying to buy time for something. Why float all these deals? I dare say if the Brohm one wasn’t true, none of them were. I do think that Currie was on board for Shiano, but didn’t expect he backlash. Someone has to take the fall and I think he’s the sacrificial lamb. What I am trying to figure out is why cause all this chaos and all this negative press towards UT? Is the end worth the damage getting there? I’ve been tweeting WBIR to push them to follow up on the Gruden deal twitter post this morning.

With the right hire (and by that I mean Gruden), the shizzle show goes away.

I'll post again, Sumlin not in play but will be mentioned.

At first, I liked the idea of Kiffin. The more I think about it, though I have to pass. Kiffin had his chance. It’s like a cheating significant other. He may say he’s sorry and offer to be good and buy you a flashy present, but he’s still a dog.

I see no way that this coaching search was some sort of plan to hire Gruden through the back door sort of thing.

This coaching search is simply the evidence that Currie is as incompetent as we he seems to be !

This everybody! But I am guilty of seeing that laser on the wall occasionally and will give chase, but we really do have to focus on Currie, Bev, Haslam.

Agreed. I've done my part, will continue to do so, and have posted my thoughts on this subject and crapstorm, and I truly believe life is going to be better, soon.

The thing with Sumlin is why couldn't he become the consistent no.2 team in the west? He had Manziel but couldn't sustain any momentum with Texas being down and A&M being hot and trendy for a while.

If he couldn't win big there, why will he here?

I think Kiffin is out to get himself a raise and then say no thanks. He’s just too anxious to be interviewed. As obnoxious as that Ainge tweet was, he did say he didn’t want the TN job

What if Gruden absolutely DEMANDED 'keep the heat offa me until I say so'? That would mean Currie has played his part to an Oscar.

Impossible, The Schiano story would not have happened if that was the case. Too many people were involved, and Schiano would have never allowed his reputation to be drug around in the mud like that. Also there were direct comments and interviews from Meyer, and the AD of Ohio State. There is NO way that UT used Schiano as a smoke screen to keep the heat off Gruden.

You are correct, but Haslam has to be neutered as well. So what if Blackburn or anyone else will stand up to him, his influence will still reign supreme if he's not ousted.
