I don't get it...if the ship has sailed why not put it to rest!!! He's had literally every opportunity in the world to smash the rumors but hasn't even whispered anything...I just don't buy it...it just smells of crap plain and simple.

This is a thread of pals now. No one left believes he is coming, but folks bonded in the thread. So it lives, and will continue to live. As it should.

Kirby Smart is sitting in Athens having a beer and laughing his ass off at how much easier his path to the East Championship will be for the next 4-5 years.
Speaking of Kirby, did you know he only made $3.75 million this year? I always assumed his salary was higher than that.

Something sure seems fishy with this whole search. How are you going to offer Gundy 7 mil, then go after the NC st coach.

Somethings not adding up. Forget Gruden for a moment. But wth is going on?

some smokescreen and deliberate and some not. every coach we interview gets a raise and extension. Those lines on the contract are all gonna get signed at once......SOOON!!!!

Well, I think I have had enough reality today. This is the first time the betrayal has hit home with me.

One of my twin daughters asked a simple question this evening. Do we have our new coach yet? I just smiled and said not yet.

I am raising three children in Birmingham, AL. All three are full orange blooded UT fans. They pull for them even above Clemson which is their mother's school. Let that sink in... They wear their UT clothes to school knowing they will get ribbed for it pretty good. But they want to wear it anyway. And each year I traditionally buy them new UT clothes and gear at Christmas. Not this year.

I can no longer support the university and lead my children down that path unless something drastically changes.

Tonight I feel betrayed. Maybe tomorrow will be better...

Good night y'all.

I feel ya. I'm in Bham too and just last night my 15 yo son asked me if I would be mad if he chose to go to Alabama for his engineering degree over UT. In his defense he would never pull for bama football, he just don't want anything to do with the crap that is going on in Knoxville right now. It breaks my heart in more ways than 1, but then again I won't pay out of state tuition for him to go to UT if things don't change on the hill.

JMO. For engineering, TTU or Ga Tech makes more sense.

We've considered GA tech but also Auburn. I think the reason behind him wanting to go to Alabama though is because he wants to still be able to live at home...lol. It's only an hour from here to Tuscaloosa. I'd much rather him go ANYWHERE but there but in the end, it's up to him to decide his future and right now he wants nothing to do with UT and it makes me sick because that's always been his dream school.

I asked in the RF with no answer so I ask in here.

I can't wrap my head around this. After Dooley and Butch I was thinking they just missed. But then they try Schiano.
Now as much as I hate Bama, why would any BOT or boosters not want that same setup in Knoxville? You get a good coach. Win alot of games. Season tickets up 300%. Ticket sales up 300%. TV exposure up 300%. Merchandise sales up 300%. Knoxville economy up 300%.

I mean what am I missing here guys, can anybody explain it to me?

That seems to be the 10.3 million dollar question around here

They do not care about money. It is all about power and control.

I understand. But that tells me there is some kind of money laundering going on. But if there is, my 300% scenario means there is more money to laundry.

Surely they just don't like beating their chest over being able to decide things at UT while having 4B in the bank.

As I've been saying since the UGA game, Currie likely had unofficial feelers put out to Sexton and other agents before Butch was fired. Does not appear that much interest was present. Of course the real answer is that we'll never know.

No it's not that. The guys we're going after are Dooley 3.0.

No search firm and went straight for Haslams pick in Schiano.

I don’t know what to say. I believe more now than I ever have. I keep going back to Beav’s Greek Cassandra and Prophecies tweet. His twitter location on twitter Jupiter’s Temple. It’s like it’s really coming true.

It’s so scary to be excited again.

Currie may be on the ropes and ready to hit the canvas and all the ref has to do is start the count. Wouldn't that cause you to re-think Gruden when several years ago he was considered an up and coming AD at K.State. Maybe his whole career, (future), flashed before his eyes. Folks at UT have had enough of these chitty hires. He's just been here 7 months while a great deal of us been going thru this BS 11-12 years now. Hiring Gruden, which he can't do alone any damn way, may serve as a redeeming action but I wouldn't guarantee that.

Living in Bamaville. I know a guy who loves to tell the story about Bama getting Nick there. What was left of Bryant's players, thought they knew how to run the place. That's a big reason why they hired crappy coach after crappy coach. Mal Moore saved them by giving full control to Saban. Whoever or Whatever Saban asks for they build it. It's why he's able to hire all these former coaches that just watch film to help him. It's no different here. You have an old man and his family that played for the general and just won't leave the program alone. Dickey was great for us. He told the boosters where to shove it and it allowed our teams to flourish...It's been downhill since Dickey left.

Hey, come speak at this banquet and run these camps for me and I'll make sure you get new jock straps for the team. Hire my son at this spot and I'll make sure you get this recruit.

First off, Gundy and Brohm are not Dooley 3.0 but that's besides the point. I personally think that Schiano was always Currie's backup plan. I think other coaches were contacted through unofficial channels and they weren't all that interested. Then over the weekend as the Kelly and Mullen news broke, Currie hit the panic button.

Those two weren't contacted until after they tried hiring Haslams pick and the chitstorm it brought. You realize this right?
