Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIX

Obviously things have went quiet this afternoon. I’ve heard from a couple of sources that in Tennessee’s talks with Jeremy Pruitt, the potential of adding Hugh Freeze to his staff came up. The few people I spoke with said that it wasn’t shot down but there were definite reservations. Just something we are chasing this evening.

Obviously there is some chatter of an afternoon mystery candidate out there. We will keep digging to see if that is real and who it might be.

Sorry - was driving and just now got back home. Can’t find Grumor’s post since it’s several pages back but I remember the gist was asking my stance on Beaver. Troll or not? Short answer, yes I believe he is a troll. I’ve believed that since the beginning. And my post history will reflect that. I found his game entertaining, as some amount of effort was put into it rather than “guys, I just heard....” bargain-bin trolling. I even had a moment or two where I thought something could be up after the betting lines changed. But once that was explained away by one of the owners of betonoline as merely reflecting incoming money, I dismissed it (I’m not familiar with gambling).

I believe Beaver is probably a wealthy, educated individual. I also believe he probably knows people with more power and influence than himself (and you and me), and I believe those people also probably told him things. Either pie-in-the-sky type scenarios or fabricated from rumors they had themselves heard. I don’t believe those people actually had any bearing on who would be hired by UT, and in an effort to hit a home run, Beaver came to the board claiming to be more than what he was. If he struck out, who cares? There will be no repercussions outside of many people no longer believing MIT_Beaver, and even then, there will still be people who strangley do for whatever reason. He goes on with his real life, can post under a different username if he so chooses (or maybe already does) and nothing ultimately matters.

If he hits, he’s a legend.

It was a gamble worth taking for someone who’s likely bored and very probably has an inflated ego and/or cares way too much what others think of him.

If he was truly here to shepherd in a change in UT’s culture, assist in ousting those in power, and restoring power to the fanbase - there wouldn’t be such a glaring need for vagueness, self-secrecy, revisionist predictions, and lengthy periods of absence. The “Grudenites” are basically on suicide watch. If he’s legit, they need him now more than ever. It would take 5 minutes tops to spill the beans on this forum with what information he knows while still being able to do so without revealing exactly who he is. Yet he doesn’t. If he wants to be the board-appointed figurehead for whatever this movement is exactly (which he clearly enjoys the psuedo celebrity of) he should be here for you guys, plain and simple. Instead, everyone is twisting in the wind with him providing nothing in tangible explanation.

So yes, I believe he is a troll.

Thank you sir. Very well said. I completely agree, but wouldn’t have been able to say it as well as you did.

But wait, there’s more, only at UT could this happen....from Austin Price on VQ

Don’t email and call Bev and Fulmer. Time to get Gruden’s email and phone # if you want an answer. He could have ended this the day it started.

Guys at this point, you’re just going to scare off more recruits and potential coaches. If it is Gruden, you may even make him balk on this. Let’s just calm down and give it through the night. Let Phil do his job. You haven’t even given the guy a freaking week yet...

You got an new AD in a position he’s never been and you’re making him make this kind of decision in less than a week? You guys gave Currie more time than this... how is that fair?

Ain't no head coach worth a dayum gonna be told who his coordinators are gonna be! Bless Fulmer for taking this jo cocker hair do on, but Currie stuck dynamite up his a** on the way out and it's bout to splode!

Just to break up the monotony a little. .....is there any treasure on Oak Island or not?

Hahaha! My husband and I watch that show every week. He loves it. I think they are destroying a beautiful little piece of land. I don’t think there is anything there, but if there was, those guys aren’t going to find anything.

The best show is the zodiac killer show that comes in right after. It’s very well done.

That’s my opinion. I deal with yours.

Beaver doesn’t nothing but stirs the pot and wants to create controversy. He claims his aim was for us to have ridden HOH from its powers, continues to claim we’ve done that, yet still b1tches about the current administration. He is a nobody, and had zero relevance on our most recent revolt, other than being a contributor like the rest of us.

I'm in Florida and local sports talk radio guys(all UF grads) say they are more worried from a fan standpoint if we get Pruitt. They believe he will strike fear into other fan bases like they haven't seen in a while. He did add even with his contacts in Tennessee that no one has any clue as to who PF is leaning to.

I miss the days where the insiders would be in here sharing titbits for hours on end. It is almost as if most of them have stopped coming here.

So yes, I believe he is a troll.

The fact that you think his payoff is legend status on VN says everything I need to hear.

No offense, but you are pretty clearly missing the forest for all the trees.

Tangible explanations aren't always permitted. Especially in the forum of billionaires and their whims. Denying legitimacy because the cards weren't all played on the table is a fallacy in itself.

And I have dealt with yours all day long but am not so immature as to call you (or anyone else for that matter) any names or try and degrade people that have a different opinion. Don’t bother to respond as you have now official made my second ignore. Have a Grude night

Gullible is a condition on here. Not a name. There is a thin line between hope and hate in here as well.

A little embarrassing, since it’s taken so long, if we end up hiring a AHC...

Considering how this search has been in the national media, the last week or two, it would be nice if we announced a big hire...

Every other school that’s in the coaching search have hired all prior HC’s... why can’t we?

Because we are UT, it's not the UT way.
