Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIX

On the coaching search mainly. Thx

If not Gruden, I think there were better options than Pruitt. I just hate the thoughts of a life long bammer leading the Vols. I would have been OK with Miles. But who knows, maybe, and I hope so, he will be successful and decide to change his colors. (to Orange of course.):)

People that would know this result that I do know, aren't talking. Why, I have no idea.

Only ones talking are the VFLs that are close to Fulmer. One thing of note of why I haven't given up and I have been MIA. One player said that Tee was coming for sure because he was excited about the coach they had. That he decided last Friday/Saturday. So, if that's the case, Phil already had his guy. I don't think Tee comes on a whim of who the coach may be. That's what I am holding on to.

I am with Boro. I want a TN guy to re-instill the TN pride and maxums program. I will be if its anything less than a homerun.

I didn't give my all to UT to continue to have a worthless AD and football program. Get this right Phillip.

Not directed at you Showoff, but name the d**n coach already then.

Been keeping the faith since about 1979...'bout out'a faith.

I don't need Gruden. I don't need National Championships. I need for the people in charge, to value this program as much as I have since I was a child.

All I wanted was for them to reach a little bit, to try and put us on equal footing with the teams I think we should be competing with. I wanted the Orange Pride re-instilled into the program.....not sure a Bama DC will be able to adequately communicate our history and the Maxim's to new recruits. All of that has been extracted from the program. We put the one guy in charge that I thought would emphasize doing that, and he seems completely disinterested in doing so.

Substitute '74 for '79 and my thoughts exactly...

It's really sad that the administration has become so corrupt and inept...

When I read somewhere that Fulmer was working with a $5 million AAV salary for the next head coach I knew then what was about to happen but in the back of mind held out hope that Fulmer wouldn't allow it to happen. The back of my mind was unfortunately wrong.

When Texas A&M is guaranteeing someone $75 million and Tennessee says $20 to $25 million will suffice here you know that we have no interest in being relevant in the SEC much less on the national stage.

Yeah paying a 4 win coach 75m was genius. He won once upon a time with a legendary qb and has since been Dabo's b#&#&. With TAMU talent, he won't won't improve them over Sumlin.

Kevin Steele work for you? Tee?

I for one prefer that situation over Pruitt.

Yeah...if we're going bargain basement shopping, let it be our guys. I can be patient with that, knowing it means something to them, and that they'll pass that on. Sure I'd prefer that over a a Bammer, or an Ohio carpetbagger like Schiano. If we're not swinging big, at least take care of our identity.

SIAP - endlessly trying to catch up...
I never said team meeting, I said players know. Then I came back and clarified I don't know how many know. Three different players sent text saying we hired somebody.

I'm sure that there are players who "know", just as we have had posters here that "know."

You must like losing.

Sorry, no offense meant and I'm sure you don't. I appreciate the sentiment. It's just hard to be excited when we continue to accept failure instead of demanding excellence. I'm tired of egos and personalities and greed getting in the way of doing what's right.

Last night at the end of Peyton's speech he talked about the history, legacy and tradition of the Vols that brought greatness to Neyland Stadium. I fear - as the leadership at this university whether employees or boosters - that we continue to drift further and further away from the characteristics that has defined UT for more than 100 years.

I understand the frustrations, but let’s not turn our backs on each other? This is a fan thread. We’re here talking to others that are just like us.

We all agree we don’t like the man. We don’t like the way the Haslam’s how corrupted everything. We all, for the most part are on the same page. And I know right now we’re all pissed and frustrated but I also know,

You all bleed orange just like I do.

You all appreciate those student athletes that are dedicating everything they have just like I do (non of this is their fault).

And if we’re not satisfied with this outcome, I know you all will let everyone know, just like I will.

All I’m saying is let’s stay banded together and at least try to make these times enjoyable for one another (even if it seems impossible).

In hard times, don’t you try and put on a smile for your kids and loved ones?

That sounds like Tee knew of the new meeting with Gruden that was happening over the weekend. Gruden said no, so it sounds like Tee is out. Dang it.

To be fair, the report said a minimum of 5 for 25. Not total...

Rational. I can dig it.

It doesn't matter if they are paying Elmer Fudd to be the coach. The bottom line is they are committed and will ante up.

Why would Pruitt leave his alma mater for Tennessee as anything other than HC? He wouldn't.

I don't think I want him anyway. His bama roots are way too deep and I can't see him WANTING to beat bama.

You say that, but this isn't really always the case. I'm not saying I want Pruitt, but typically coaches try harder to beat their alma mater, friends, etc.

Think about it this way... when you played NCAA Football 14 dynasty starting out at a school like UMass and Tennessee happened to be on your schedule, you tried like hell to beat them, right? Same thing in real life.
