I don't want to go back to find it but I saw where a few people said Pruitt had started following our players/recruits. Not true as far as I can see. He follows TN247 and TNfootball but also does the same with the Bulldogs. Don't see any activity on his social media that would make me think he is or isn't looking to join our staff.

Felt more like tearing down the brand since Hart was hired as the AD to me.

I agree, Fulmer was fired because the university wanted to go in a different direction, seems this is continuing in the same direction we have went for the last 10 years.

I would rather have Tee as the head coach, at least he is Tennessee blood.

I read that this would be his 2nd interview today. I have yet to see or hear anyone say it would be his 3rd.
And I heard that those twitter follows aren't recent...he has followed them for some time.

I watched his follows grow, yes they were. Also, he was with them at the ceremony yesterday. Low reported a third meeting today. Don’t shoot the messenger, but it’s pretty easy to see.

I find it hard to believe Fulmer hires a Bammer, but we'll see I guess.

It's happening...

Totally off-topic, but after this is all over, I wonder if freak would let us have boards dedicated to Vols in other areas outside of Tennessee so those of us who don’t have Facebook can find other vol fans in our respective areas.

Yes! Maybe in the pub or the endzone. I don't do the Facegrams or the Snapbooks either. I made a twitter just for this past week, but I don't plan to utilize it much.

We didn't screw up a thing. An incompetent AD(Currie), the idiotic UT Admin, and power hungry boosters screwed us over, royally. Our leadership is broken, and making Fulmer AD fixed nothing. Until we get leadership that realizes the importance of football to the university, we will forever be screwed.

This whole thing just reiterates how I've felt for over a decade+.

All I know is Northwestern University and The Kellogg School of Management thank UT for it's blundering downfall beginning in and around 2001 for my donations.

I'm po'd just thinking about it, Northwestern is a better football program, and team, than UT. Let that reality sink in folks, repeat it. Northwestern, the once bumbling bottom rung Vanderbilt of the Big10....mother f***** s.of a b.... crap.......so sad.

C'mon Gruden. Make it better.

Jeremy Pruitt: Get to know UT Vols coaching candidate

This article doesn't really tell me much of anything other than a few tidbits history wise. However, I will say it does make me ask: wtf? We had Leach in our pocket and fired the guy who was going to hire him. Then we go after Miles, who I can get behind because of the supposed staff he was bring in. Now it looks like we're going after a guy who 1) has ZERO head coaching experience (just because it appears to be working for UGA doesn't mean it will for us, Phil); 2) has Bama ties (meaning if he's even a bit decent he'll probably ditch us for Bama or Auburn within 2-3 years PLUS he's a Bamer); 3) is defensive guy when our offense was the problem; and 4) is known for being on MTV and not knowing what asparagus is. I mean really?? Has firing Currie really changed anything??? This is ridiculous!

You do realize that we have done that before right? Shortly after General Neyland passed, Bill battle was the head coach of the boys in orange after playing for the boys in crimson just a few years earlier. He served as the coach for 10 years and amassed a record of 59–22–2. He went on to eventually become the athletic director for the Alabama crimson tide.

Bill Battle inherited a team from Doug Dickey that was loaded with tallent and his first few years he could have beaten nearly anyone except Bama, which he did.

He could NOT recruit nor maintain what he inherited so he was replaced with John Majors as head coach in 1977

His winning record was owed to Dickey not because of him... Bill Battle was a failure as a head coach

Curious- I can't find his tweet saying that. Did he erase?
Like to see a screenshot from someone if so.

He deleted the two negative ones nearly immediately.

One said something to the effect of, "that is beyond disappointing". And then he replied to someone that they could have closed the deal and didn't and so they failed. But they were deleted almost instantaneously.

Give me one thing that makes him a good hire?

Recruiting, won a 3 nattys as a coordinator for 2 different schools. Great scheme D. Saban taught. Regardless of your hate towards Saban and Alabama, thy have the keys to winning lately. I’d like someone groomed by him.

My biggest problem with where we are is that we had proven head coaches some of which have won conference championships that were interested:

Les Miles
Jeff Brohm
John Harbaugh
Mike Leach

And there may have been someone I missed. I'm trying to understand how Pruitt or Tucker match up to any of these guys in terms of experience. Leach and Brohm don't run preferred offenses, so Phil was never going to give them time of day. And that frustrates the holy hell out of me, because we exclude a vast population of coaches right off the bat because 90% of college football is running some type of variation of spread or Air Raid. The pool of coaches you leave yourself otherwise is incredibly small by focusing on what I will just call "old school" ball. And then Les Miles. I really don't understand why he was taken off the list. Probably age had something to do with it.

And lastly Fulmer should address Gruden whenever the presser happens. I don't give a damn that it's Pruitt's day or whatever. The fan base needs to know whether or not we truly made an authentic attempt to bring him back.

For those looking for Gruden to respond "yes" or "no", this tidbit for you...

I have a client that is a former coach of the local NFL franchise. We were talking about the Vols coaching situation and he brought up Grumors. Not Gruden specifically, but Grumors. He said the word in the coaching business is that Gruden has gotten so tired of being asked about something any time his name is linked to a pro and college openings that he now refuses to give a definitive response when asked about it. The never say never to nothing is a calculated "line", but one that is auto pilot, not specific to any single situation. Bottom line, he said do not read anything into the lack of a definitive "no", that with Gruden, the word in the coaching industry is at this point he won't publically be negative about any opening. I asked why is it that way now vs. how it was in 2012 and he just said, you live and learn. Bottom line - we'll know when we know, but based on this conversation, I don't expect to ever have any closure on Gruden.... We'll know when someone walks to the podium.... TIFWIW

Ok folks, everyone take your Xanax this morning and CHILL. I am not an insider but I do have common sense. I’m all in for Gruden and here’s why. I am not looking at a single piece of info but rather the collective info as a whole. If you don’t feel the same, then so be it. None of this makes sense to me unless I look at it collectively:
1) Grudens own statements along the way. Rocky Top song reference, never say never to nothing, awkward MNF thing, and NO public denial. Folks, IMO he may be a huge publicity seeking diva but his son goes to UT. We all saw the video of the obnoxious fan following Currie and tell me what parent sets their child up for that when a public denial could curtail some of that.
2). This group of boosters effectively mobilized Volnation and got the Shiano hire stopped. That had something to do with the boosters not wanting it,but WE were the voices that stopped it. These same folks who organized that whole deal, now are so inept that they can’t land a big name? Sorry, not buying it. I personally like MIT Beaver but I believe he was part of the plan to cause change in TN AD department. That whole plan was pretty dang complicated and well thought out in my mind.
3). How many times has the media told us we were close to a deal or had signed someone only for us to find out they were full of poop? Some of these coaches were not even offered deals but the media had a hayday. I think Fulmer and above mentioned boosters are throwing out all kinds of stuff as part of the plan. Now let’s move onto UTPaulVol and our beloved AtlVol. Folks, I think if UT was about to hire someone, AtlVol would be here to tell us that it wasn’t happening. He knows how we feel about our team and I just don’t see him letting us get a shock like that without a warning. Then UTPaulVol and his Gif gifts yesterday. I think that’s about telling GRUDEN to poop or get off the pot and then the suit is saying done deal and time to suit up. Paulvol did tell us couple days ago to put on our seatbelts and helmets and get ready cause it was going to get wild.
4) Fulmer loves this university and it has to have killed him to see it tank in the last few years. He can’t think that taking on another unproven promotion basically is going to get it done.

I think Gruden is involved in this and fully on the table. I don’t think he will take over until around Christmas. You may be looking at his staff being interviewed IMO

TN has had alabama people in and around it's staffs for a long time. Bill Battle, David Cutcliffe just to name two. Doug Dickey was a FL guy.

that he is from Bama doesn't really bother me.

Maybe Fulmer can save the embarrassment and pay Bama Dave to come back and introduce another Bama boy to take our money, suck and get fired with a huge buyout.
