Let me ask you this. Why should I give a flying **** about Herm or Az St?

99.9% of the time you shouldn’t. However, this one particular time it is relevant. Herm and Gruden share a common employer, ESPN. They both analyze the same sport, the NFL. ESPN is hemorrhaging money, especially on the NFL. If Herm is making $2 million (just a number here) and is considering the headache and hassle of coaching college, then I would guess that ESPN has said we are cutting our budget thus probably lowering Gruden’s too.

My point being, if AZ St can offer Herm complementary pay to that of ESPN, and we are offering $8 million + to Gundy (not knocking him) then maybe Gruden would look more favorably at our “offer”. Not saying there is a direct correlation, but it is an interesting theory.

What I can’t seem to figure out is if the report is true that Fulmer is heading the search now, why not make a pitch (again) to JG? Make him say yes or no.

Reported on 247 by an "insider" that Fulmer has been put in charge of the coaching search. Thought that firing Currie would be announced before Fulmer installed, but who knows? Not putting much stock in it at this point. But, that would also indicate Davenport may have switched sides from Haslam to the good guys.

See this as a smokescreen also. Fulmer hires Haslam's coach and the fan base does not object.........too much,

My thoughts as well, unless PF does not think Gruden would be the best hire or Gruden is really not in play.

I can't tell the whole story but here is what I can tell .
A very powerful person in Tennessee sent out a tweet Sunday night supporting Vol fans. Within hours this person got a call from Jimmy Haslam and was TOLD not asked to delete tweet. Can't tell the whole conversation but he was politely told to go to hell. I can say with 100 % confidence by what Haslam said during phone call , he was behind the hire.

As someone pointed out, that could be with incentives.

But what, in your opinion, would a Patone 151 wearing, mullet sporting Gundy be worth?

5.5-6

But, I honestly don't care. I just think doubling his salary seems too reactionary to desperation. I don't like the idea, but Kiffin at 5 seems smarter.

I'd rather have Gundy tho.

I don’t disagree, but there is also a big difference between what Arizona State and Tennessee are willing to pay for a coach.

I was simply saying it proves the ESPN layoffs are real and helps with the idea that Gruden could’ve been entertaining the idea of coaching here.

If we’re offering Gundy 8.4. Your argument is null and void. Gruden doesn’t make more than that.

He works 16 games or so a year and also has multiple endorsement deals. Compare that to working 24/7/365 for similar money, what would you do?

And just because we want him as a coach doesn't mean he wants to coach college ball, which he has never done before as a head coach.

Just got a text from my friend who by the way is also a king in Nigeria, he says if I send him money he will tell me who the next head football coach is.
