Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

I have done, and am doing, all that I believe I can do to help our University get on path. I will continue to do so until I either see Currie fired or a coach walk to the podium.

I'm sorry man but I don't think it's enough. The common man is scattered on this. We need a heavy hitter or three to come out and rally the troops.

Imagine if Thunder made a big announcement with Anderson and said they would no longer support UT with Currie in the driver seat? It would be an "Oh $#!+" moment and others would fall in line

I agree..but there are better coaches for that price. This is Haslam willing to overpay to quickly out someone in place.

Did we forget Jennings was released a week ago, Shiano was trotted out two days ago.

This quick hire is to change the narrative and retain power.

Yes..they are trying to change the narrative. I suggested Sunday night that we’d have a coach by Friday to do just that. But that can also be the right move at the same time. There are other coaching jobs still open and the longer we wait the smaller our selection becomes.

If Jon seriously wants this coaching job then cleaning house is easy. It’s the nuclear torpedo option. Trusted media member calls Jon.

Media: hey Coach Gruden, thanks for talking with me today. You stated before that UT is a dream job, yet media members are presenting it as a dumpster fire job nobody would take so I’m reaching out for your opinion. How are they wrong? What makes Ut a dream job?

Gruden: it’s the fans first and foremost. Over a 100k Vols fans on a fall Saturday singing Rocky Top together is a thing of beauty. You know I love that song. The location is awesome and the facilities are top notch as well. It’s just everything, man running through that T is such a rush. Why wouldn’t it be a dream job ya know.

Media: what’s your view on the current firestorm surrounding the Vols coaching search?

Gruden: I love VolNation, those fans are best in college football. Man, ya know, the optics from that situation and the Admin aren’t real great right now.

Media: so Coach, you know I have to ask, because everyone wants to know... would you ever want to coach the Vols?

Gruden: it’s a dream job, of course I would, but that stuff on the Hill right now, oh man..I don’t know if I could do it the way things are right now..but if an AD like David Blackburn or Phil Fulmer called me, I would absolutely sit down with them and work out a deal to coach the Vols.

Boom! Do that with a pickup from national media and watch this fan base blow that Admin apart. All it takes is the fans to know Jon would come and how to get him here. Anybody standing in the way of that, Currie, Bev, the Haslams, collateral damage and gone.

Just a thought: wouldn't it seem the best way to limit the outraged fan base and to seemingly do some damage control would be to make a quick hire? To me, it appears Currie is being directed to do just that. Why not take our time now, Gundy isn't going anywhere, recruiting de-commitments have already started occurring, and if the rumor is true that all but one booster(s) have been meeting since yesterday to develop a plan to take back our university, wouldn't the first order of business be to get the wrong ppl off the bus? If this has already been asked/answered, sorry... haven't been able to follow as much as I'd like today. As always, Go Vols!

I think you're a good dude, and do believe you. However, as just witnessed, the masses move the needle, our big boys got outplayed, outmaneuvered, and blindsided onto their hind quarters.

I want to have faith in the big donors, but short of Ergen saying I'll spend whatever it takes to bury the Haslam's I truly believe the Haslam tentacles reach too far.

I made my living by going into companies and telling their upper management who were earning 7 figures that they were incompetent and lazy and would prove it to them. I am retired at 40. I don't play the game I create and make my own that will allow the other side to either hang themselves, or, get on board. How do we hang the Haslam's, or get them on board?

Long time lurker but first time poster. Just wanted to thank all you guys for all the information you brought to the table. I do still believe that Gruden is still in play. He has not said no publicly and that’s good enough for me. I have been tweeting, emailing and calling everyone at UT since we started this fight. I’ve been texting Curries number as well. What else can we do to move this piece of crap out of here and get our man?? Ride or die!!!

yep. I am of the opinion that if it is not shared that nothing will ever come of it as the Haslems will still be running the ship.

He’s got enough folks to make **** go away this is the likely likely outcome

Then so be it.

I agree, but with money comes friends with money comes silence

Which is what scares me

It should scare everybody

Rest assured if Haslam goes down, he will take people with him. It won't be quiet and it won't be pretty. It will be the worst divorce in history.

But worth it in the long run.

Who cares really? We’ve got people who can replace the money haslam takes. Certain boosters have said through party lines they are ready and willing

Like I said. The information is where it can do the most good. Whether it makes a difference, we shall see.

Sure hope good people like you don't decide to just roll over though.

Not trying to be a complete a** here, but I'm tired of all of the generalizations. Just say what you know. I can only speak for me, but I'm tired of the posts of 'oh, if you only knew what I know...'

Psychics and mediums work the same way.

Could we talk you into any "Volunteer" work?!

This is the VIOLENCE OF ACTION

COA 2 would require evidence to a crime.

I will say this. This is AN ANONYMOUS MESSAGE BOARD. If you have disgusting....is that the word you used?....information, share it.

Who is going to know you shared it? No one knows who you are!

Knuck posted that the info disgusted him.

The right people to do something about it are aware.

I'm not putting it out here. I just didn't want knuck under fire for what I discussed with him.

EDIT: Meant to quote tastycar

If it cost one of your family/friends job, and your relationship w/ that person, would you do it?

That's a bad argument, cause we've seen multiple people blow the whistle on things that cost them their job, family and friends.

Look at McQuery, blew the whole PSU think wide open, sure he might not be living it up, but I bet you he doesn't regret turning in Sandusky for a moment.

Psychics and mediums work the same way.

Referring to the Boosters, they have the most intimate details of everything that's happened. I have to believe that's why we've not heard from Atlanta, he's busy.
