Proud to say, I finally received a response from one email. I will not post the respondents name only the context.

Dear Ms. Clark:
My apologies for the delayed response, but I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge receipt of your message and to thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. As a University of Tennessee supporter, your perspectives are important to us, and I will be sure to share your message with the UT System President and members of the UT Knoxville administration.
While I regret that this matter has caused you to reconsider your ongoing financial support of the University, I hope that we can regain your trust as we move ahead. Again, thank you for your message.
Sincerely,

typical boiler plate bullsh*t.

i sent you an email and was hoping to get a reply from you, Sara......oh well.

You will have to spell it out for most! Without Currie, would we stil be able to make a run at Gruden?

With Currie/Haslam out..the power shifts to the people who have a long term plan, and who have been fighting for the fans.

Gruden for sure? No idea...but a lot better odds than they're at now. Imo

Am I the only one having a hard time believing that we actually sent Currie to seal the Gundy deal? One can’t dream up the level of incompetence in this CBJ fire/coaching search.

That’s some funny (sad) stuff right there....highly doubt the next Mullet to The Hill will be Gundy’s.

When I called the Alumni Dept. today, I was told they have logged thousands of phone calls in a spreadsheet. They now have three phone working full time to keep up.

Wait, so you're mad that UT is finally going to throw top money at a possible top coach? Who has shown he can win at the college level.

But you weren't mad to offer $10M or more to a guy who hasn't coached in what 15 years?

Wasn't it pretty much agreed by everyone that it would take ridiculous money to get a top coach from a sitting P5 school here?

I get the allure of Gruden, he'd probably make a good/great hire, but there are more questions about him and his ability in the college game than there is Gundy.

Never said anything about paying $10M to hire Gruden. I just don't think that doubling his salary to $8M was necessary to hire Gundy. I think it's a desperation move to save Currie's job and I'm concerned about the long-term implications on the reputation of the school. Paying the third highest salary in CFB sets a bad precedent for any coaching hire by UT in any sport in the future. Especially since I'm not convinced that Gundy is a "top" coach. Good, yes. Top coach remains to be seen. Again, just don't think Gundy has proven he's worth $8M regardless of the situation UT has put itself in.

So you'd put the near retirement age guy who was no where near as successful at OKst as Gundy and the guy who caused our decade of disaster and did so poorly at his last p5 job that the AD literally threw him off the team bus as better options???

Yep, and like I said, it can be argued either way.

Again, if these people want pressure from us plebs, they need to give us ammo.

Else they're just like the Soviets in WWII sending us all out to get shredded without any guns.

Your ammo is: John Currie, with the approval of Jimmy Haslam, tried to hire Greg Schiano as our football coach. That demonstrates that he cannot be allowed to hire the next football coach at the University of Tennessee.

Why????????

Can folks not see the issue? Currie has to go before we put a coach in place. We’ve had enough yes men. As long as he is still AD, that what we will be stuck with.

This all day, it is once again us not moving away from Haslem's grip. CellarDwellerU

and I don't give a rats a** if I misspelled his name

That's a big drop from done deal...

I don’t know where 8.4 million came from but I don’t buy that. That seems like a number made up by someone on the pity party line of thinking. We are after Gundy but he will only come to this disaster if we give him a stupid amount of money. Doesn’t smell right to me.

Agreed, 8.4 mil for Gundy is absurd. Think this could be some sort of Currie CYA leak? "Hey VN, I backed the dump truck up and still couldn't get a P5 coach."

Gundy has been at Okla State from 2005-2017

ONE conference championship in 13 YEARS ??!?! ONE !!!

you're excited about THAT ???? SMDH

You must think Mark Richt is a coaching GENIUS then
He won TWO conf championships in 15 YEARS !!!

Les Miles won 2 at LSU. Phillip Fulmer won 2 here in 16 years and is our 2nd best coach of all time. Just like us dealing with Saban, he's had to deal with prime Stoops and Mack Brown running a dominant Texas program for the first half of his career.

Nope sorry. Will not allow internet trolls like you to drag the university down even further. Go Vols.

:compute:

What do you expect me to do, get an oil rig drill to help them keep digging now that we've hit rock bottom?

They've done enough on their own. Kiffin minimal buyout. Dooley desperate hire. Jones. Tyndall. Schiano. The list goes on.

But, you keep up thinking you're protecting the university from a passionate fanbase who is tired of mediocrity.

:bow2:

Respectfully yes. That's your opinion which you are entitled, but I really believe Les isn't quite as washed up as everyone seems to think. He was 114-34 in his tenure at LSU with 2 National Championship appearances winning 1 of them. Granted he did have some ups and downs but nowhere near what we've experienced the last 10 years. As for Kiffin he was a bust at first but I believe his time spent with Saban and given the right staff around him could produce some really good football. JMO like a**holes everyone has one

So in five years from now, after Gundy fails, Currie and Haslam will look towards their next hire.

We at VolNation will look back at this day and wonder... What disgusting news did Knuck have? Should it have been brought forward sooner? Could it have stopped Haslam? Would it have been enough to have gotten Currie fired and Gruden hired?

I got fussed at for suggesting such a tactic.......

Gundy's buyout is only 3 million per Hyams. Also per Hyams, Gundy says he would leave for Tennessee because he feels like he'd be more likely to win a national title here.

Exactly the kind of drive we need in a coach. Make it happen Currie.
