Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

This, they (Currie/Haslam) aren't scared of other boosters, if they were the Schiano fiasco wouldn't have went down.

They have a stacked deck all the way to the Governor’s office. The only way to push back is for everybody not named Haslam to withhold all support (donations, ticket and merch purchases, etc.). I hereby commit to doing my part.

Jon Gruden talking to Tennessee Volunteers about coaching vacancy
By Jason La Canfora Nov 26, 2017 • 1 min read

That is the headline from the CBS sports article La Canfora wrote on the 26th.

"Sources said school officials have discussed the matter with him, with Gruden a top target for the Volunteers."

With knowing now that Currie planned to install Schiano, was this pure fantasy by La Canfora, or if not, who are the "School officals" that his sources say contacted Jon Gruden?

This obviously fueled our "Gruden to the Hill" fire, and seemingly gave hope that a hire with solid football mind (Long time analyst for ESPN, Gruden QB camp etc.) and proven results (Won a Super Bowl) was taking over the VOLS program.

I question, who are the officials (the S on the end there meaning it had to be more than one person as quoted straight from the article) from the university that spoke with Jon Gruden? There would, I'm assuming, be some record of this if the correspondence was electronic or over the phone, which could be proven through a records request. An in person meeting would be harder to prove, I think, being that we would have search through the athletic departments travel records to nail down a location where Gruden and said members were at the same time. Just popped into my head remembering through the last couple days.

I don't think PM was in on it.

I think that Gruden represents someone else getting their way (the other boosters). I think that's all there is to it.

I think Gruden was one of the few coaches that would tell a big money booster to f off. Haslam won't be having anybody tell him that and continue his employment.

what coach would work for Currie after Sunday?

That's the question. Most are looking through the eyes of a fan. If look at this from the coaching fraternity's perspective it's quite bad.

Greg Schiano didn't make a mistake regarding his hiring. He was offered and said yes. All the circus around it belongs to Currie and UT.

The looming question is do Atlanta and the rest have enough time to get this done... it’s 11:15EST and we’re hearing about a Gundy interview, not Curries resignation.

I agree. Tell Haslam that if you wanna do it your way, do it alone would be effective. Until he relented a little and the money came back. It would have to be permanent for it to work. And I just don't see that working out. I still say tell Haslam we don't want your money.

@VolTwitt_er Lets tweet out these phone numbers and call the Alumni Association and the Tennessee Fund.
Tennessee Fund: 865-974-1218
Alumni Association: 865-974-3011
They are making a spreadsheet to take to the higher-ups. Change in administration, firing Currie, and no Halsam

because he's probably getting fired and he dang sure isn't resigning, he's going to hire this next coach and it's going to suck
