Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

I think he does make this hire. I believe the leaks about gauging Kiffin which I heard a little while ago. I think Currie WILL resign after. In comes Blackburn. This is my opinion. If the house is cleaned then Gruden back in play.

Come on knuck. We owe Butch 9M. We will owe his assistants that are here buyout money. You think Currie will make the hire and then get fired? Then we will also owe Currie 5.5M buyout. We will then be paying a new HC salary. Then be paying new assistant salary. Then were gonna hire Blackburn. We have to pay Blackburns salary. Blackburns going to fire Curries new HC hire and assistants which we then owe both buyout money. And blackburn is going to hire Gruden at a tune of 10M a year?

Jackson, I feel the same way, I just think that a total housecleaning of the current leadership would have to occur before he would come at this point. And I don't know how likely that is.

I'm honestly at the point where I cannot generate any enthusiasm for any other name that would consider us.

I agree on the housecleaning but don't have much faith right now, if it doesn't happen we are going to be Vandy for a very long time.

After this I'm out.....

I'd rather lose than win with a head coach that would do "whatever it takes" to win.

Just me.

As far as I know Gruden hasn't done shady s**t to win games. If I'm wrong, prove me wrong.

There’s no one in this profession that can cast stones college football is a dog eat dog world. I’m all in for gruden but better chance of hitting lottery. Kiffin is at least realistic option at this point. He’d also bring some excitement & confidence back to the hill.

Unfortunately if Currie was gonna get the ax, it would’ve already happened. Hubbs reporting he could be in Dallas currently.

Don’t see him resigning either. Hope Atlanta and company make something happen rather quickly.

Any chance he is driving a convertible by a certain book depository?

Pennies in the long term.

I think we're way beyond that at this point. Someone brought up the election earlier and how the People decided they had enough of the constant political speak and decided to fight back.

Yesterday and today, Volnation fought back. And they are tired of seeing what's been happening, tired of a single family making the decisions, tired of half assed coaches being shoved down our throats and this move to try to sneak a coach in just drew the ire of everyone involved.

Yesterday, we drew the proverbial line in the sand and are daring Currie to cross it.
I honestly think the line may be crossed. At that point.. either a) the campus will be set ablaze b) the fans will revolt once again.. second time around calling the heads of every single official out. Something will have to get done. The support will underwhelm what happened yesterday and make it look like a small gathering. C.) Big money will seriously revolt.

Not that most of the above isn't already happening... However.. it will be scary for the University and AD as a whole.

I want it to be Gruden but let's be real. If there was support from some faction of boosters, (they would be dumb not to), and if Gruden was indeed interested all that would have to happen is Gruden mention publicly he was interested. This would force the hands of Currie, Haslams and any other roadblock imaginable. It would be career suicide if they didn't make it happen.

If Gruden was an option that was killed the moment Haslam and Currie backdoored and went public with the Schiano escapade.

Guys the last month has illustrated as well as anything could the absolute shat show this program is. There is a reason we didn't get our pick of the litter in the last three coaching searches, good coaches won't come and coach for this administration.

I hate where we are at and unfortunately the only thing we can do as fans is walk away, as difficult as that will be we must pull our support until the University realizes all the Haslam money in the world means nothing if the stands look like a Miami home game. Time to put our money where our mouths are and let them do without us.

I'll remain here with you guys, this dysfunctional community we built, (thanks to Freak), will hopefully be enough to distract me from the emptiness without UT Football for a while.

Been great getting to know you guys. Hope we are having this discussion again in a few years when we are ready to do it right again!

Sooooooon!

How does Blackburn hire Gruden if Currie has already hired Kiffen?

Your thoughts? I think if we fire Currie and hire Blackburn we automatically get Gruden!

Same shenanigans as ‘12 and same result. Gruden obviously has no interest in college coaching or he’d be doing it here or elsewhere for lots of $. But after we make our hire this thread will say we had him on the hook and lost him cause of Currie or Haslam. As much as I don’t like the guys I don’t believe for a second they wouldn’t wanna be the heroes of TN and get statues of themselves by bringing in the white whale. Can’t wait for the Gruden 2022-23 thread. Bet he have him hooked and lose him again.

Don’t you bring that common sense in here. Take that shat to the Kiffin thread.

This. Quit listening to anything this "Knuck" character says. It's ridiculous. I mean just look at his post that you quoted, he goes out of his way to say "which I heard a little while ago" because he so desperately wants to be an "insider".

I don't want him either. The guy is rotton.

After what happened Sunday, which was a beautiful thing on the part of Vol Nation, Currie won’t dare try to ram another coach down our throat. What happened Sunday has put all ADs on notice. The article quoting OSU’s AD basically alluded to this change in dynamic. Fans now are empowered. That’s why ESPN, Herby, and the like are pushing back because they are losing power and it’s a beautiful thing!
