Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

Again, that's what I thought.

If federal dollars are involved (and make no mistake about it, they are at UT) you are subject to FOIA.

Not really. You could ask the federal agency providing the funds for some specific purpose under FOIA, I suppose. Not sure how AD records/communications would be covered by that. FOIA is a federal law for federal agencies. In Tennessee, state agencies are covered by the Tennessee Public Records Act.

Here's info from UT on records requests:

"Public Records Requests

UT’s Office of Media and Internal Relations handles requests for public records for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus.

Along with complying with the Tennessee Public Records Act, the university aims to respond as efficiently and promptly as possible. Any Tennessee resident can request records made or received pursuant to law or in connection with the transaction of official university business."

I think we're way beyond that at this point. Someone brought up the election earlier and how the People decided they had enough of the constant political speak and decided to fight back.

Yesterday and today, Volnation fought back. And they are tired of seeing what's been happening, tired of a single family making the decisions, tired of half assed coaches being shoved down our throats and this move to try to sneak a coach in just drew the ire of everyone involved.

Yesterday, we drew the proverbial line in the sand and are daring Currie to cross it.

I’m with ya 100%. I was one of those voices in the election. But in this instance, we need a coach ASAP. We also need a competent AD even sooner. And I don’t think we can get one without the other. So the longer today’s “meetings” go that Atlanta mentioned, the more I fear he’s been able to save his butt. I just don’t know if time is with us or against us. Make sense?

he laid the hammer down, that was a great response.......may need to copy it here.

Here it is:

@flabuck UT didn't want an individual who has been accused by an individual who was under oath of not reporting child sexual abuse. UT didn't want an individual who was voted as the least desirable coach to work for by NFL players. UTdidn't want a person who mistreated multiple employees while working for Tampa Bay. UT didn't want an individual who claims he never did what he was accused of, but yet has never sued McQuary for slander.

Bottom line is that there is much evidence that he's a horrible person, and that doesn't even include the issues relating to possibly not reporting the child sex abuse.

Before you criticize the fans of our proud university, you had better look at your own cast of characters and their many faults. Like your football coach, who had 30+ players arrested at Florida in a 2 year span. Like your AD, who narrowly avoided a show cause penalty during the chaos and deceit that was the last few years of the Jim Tressell era. Gene Smith, who has covered and minimized rulebreaking before, is the last person that I would listen to when it comes to moral and ethical issues in sports.

The difference between the osu and Tennessee is that the fans here realize that there is more to winning than overlooking ethics and morality. It is a sad state of our country when fans get criticized for standing up against a crappy man like Schiano, who was a crappy man even without the allegations of not reporting sexual abuse. And, BTW, do you REALLY think that he spent 5 years of his life working with Sandusky at PSU and didn't know what was going on, when there were rumors for years and years regarding Sandusky's behavior? Get real.

I've never been more proud of a fanbase that what I am of UT fans today. This was a far bigger issue that what is being reported by the national media. It's time that there is accountability for leaders of athletic programs, who get millions of taxpayers dollars from you and me.

Oh, and the other aspect of all of this that gets no reporting by the national media. Who pushed and pushed for Schiano to be hired? None other than our great owner of the Browns, Jimmy Haslam. After all that Jimmy has destroyed with the Browns, do you really think that he and his recommendations should be listened to? H*LL NO! People in Knoxville will not be happy until integrity is restored to UT,the President, Chancellor and Currie are fired, and Jimmy Haslam is brought down a few pegs and learns to make good business decisions related to sports..

Hmm, if your "place of business" in this analogy is Volnation.com, and you are leaking things for over a month that are completely false, sounds like you should start looking into other career fields. You know what else you can do in a free country? Tell people they're FOS. In this case Beaver, VolNExile, OrangePill, etc. are FOS. Maybe they honestly believed they weren't, but they certainly ended up being it nonetheless.

This place being any sort of source of "inside information" (along with VQ) is officially debunked at this point.

Can you not read? Apparently not.

This is a "Jon Gruden" thread. Who twisted your arm to come in here and tell everyone what they should and shouldn't believe?

Let people have their place to cuss and discuss their beliefs. Period.

I don't show up and s**t on what YOU want...... I learned my lesson a long time ago....

It's why I can't order at Burger King anymore.

All we can hope for now is that Currie woke up this morning and said **** the fans are serious Andy fans are serious my career is in jeopardy. I better call GRuden. But In all liklihood that arrogant prick woke up and said **** it and farted then called mike bobo.

Yep, we all need to do what we did today again tomorrow

I just hope everyone still has the fight left in them

Yes, yes , yes....if it stops then Currie and the admin wins. VBS is very real to me as I haven’t lived in Tennessee for over 10 years and haven’t been home in 3. However , I believe in this fight and can’t let apathy set in just because Currie hasn’t been fired yet!

Here’s my fear in all of this. Fatigue. I’m afraid the powers that be will just wait us out until we give in. .....
If I and/or We are to believe what's been said for a number of weeks that a power shift for a few years has been in the works , no way they throw in the towel just yet, IMHO !!

Just saw the afternoon edition. I personally think it is an overused word today, but the only way I can properly describe it because it really is...Epic.

Many thanks.

Good to see you back here and a bit more even keeled. You had us worried for a while.

I don’t believe Peyton was in on it. Haslam’s have shown their willing to throw ANYONE under the bus after the Pilot investigation to save face and deflect.

Which brings me to another point. How are we allowing someone who multiple people on the stand say was behind the fraud scandal, anywhere near our university right low.

Jimmy Hyams kept repeating those 3 guys over and over. He also said Peyton was reaching out to other VFLs to support the hire.

*It's been a long time since I've listened to WNML because I don't like JH. I think he's a jerk.

Oh, can you imagine the words he and Bevvy have used to describe the fans?

Inbred rednecks, hillbillies, you name it. Wait until you see what these hillbillies can do, you elitist scum.

He loves UT. Take the crap out that is known nationally and we can have any coach. He was going to get the ball rolling. Why do you think his deal was so short?

I know I'm way behind so maybe this has already been asked & answered, but this is the first I've heard about "deal being so short" - please explain

So has anyone looked into the gridironnow report that multiple athletic department sources are saying both Davenport and Currie filed false flight plans and by implication might have sent planes to ruse locations to throw off lurkers? If these are probable (FOIA request should be filed) this would be likely criminal in nature. Misappropriation of state or university funds, staff time, and definitely fuel etc if empty planes were used
The state comptroller and FAA would probably have jurisdiction and I assume filing false flight plans is also illegal and punishable. Anyone looking into this??
