Official Jon Gruden Thread XLII

I keep reading supposed media people report guys like Schiano, Brohm, Norvell, Campbell and thinking to myself that Currie can’t possibly be that stupid. You know he hears this fanbase constantly calling for the big time hire after all these mediocre hires, and he can’t possibly be that dumb or arrogant to think any of those guys would appease this fanbase. Surely he understands that a hire as poor as Schiano, etc. would land him unemployed very quickly. He’s supposed to be a master fundraiser and he knows this would dry up the funds very very quickly. Gruden or Petersen would be the hire we deserve and finally show us they care about winning on the Hill. I just keep hoping it’s Gruden and latch on to any sensible information that leads me to that conclusion.

On a side note, on the coverage of UF vs. FSU they said we should hire Dave Clawson or Coach Cut and laughed at it. I’m tired of being the laughingstock.

If you stop being a fan because they don’t hire who you want, then you were never a fan to begin with. John Currie gets paid to make these decisions, you do not.

hat is not true. We are simply tired of losing and doing nothing about it. The mantra of be the best you can be has been lost at Tennessee. It is not a question of bailing because they do not hire who you want. It is a question of settling for less Again. I for one will not support another Dooley or watch the team I love continue to evolve into the laughing stock of college FB and by the way, the worst team in the SEC.

It was all unicorns, rainbows, and grudens this morning. I leave for a couple of hours and the place goes nuts. Can I get a quick update?

Johnny Majors went into a car dealership and confirmed Gruden and Tee was a done deal.

Facilities have been told to have Neyland prepped for possible coaching announcement tomorrow.

Mullen a done deal to be announced tomorrow per MSU source.

Schiano the front runner per another sources.

Attention now turning to Mike Leach per Knox news.

Currie met with Petersen in Seattle this week.

Jimmy Hyams backtracks and admits Currie has met with Gruden.

Wrong. If a coach is hired that you have a moral grievance with, you are well within justifiable reason to lay down your fandom until said coach is no longer present.

If Schiano is the coach, I’m out.

Apparently John Currie has talked to every body on the planet but the name that most people talk about, most insiders agree on and most information and evidence we have just isn't happening???

That makes no sense.

In other words, nobody knows squat.

The range of names that are ALL OVER THE PLACE being thrown around as Tennessee’s new coach says only one thing to me:

NONE of those names are it. The misinformation campaign by Currie has worked brilliantly. :)

Very small circle of people who know who it is, and NOBODY in that circle is in the media. They are reporting what they are being fed. :)

Name me another job in the country where more than 2 names are being mentioned... magically, we have 8-10? LOL

SOOOOOOOOON!!!

Sources tell FootballScoop Tennessee AD John Currie has been working the phones and putting in the hours expected of a UT AD during a coaching search. This search has been referred to as “thorough” by more than one person in the profession to FootballScoop.

Before we get into the real stuff, we are reminded in accordance with Tennessee state law, in connection with any Tennessee coaching search we are required to mention Jon Gruden’s name somewhere prominently in the article. Jon Gruden was never a candidate for this job. That is all.

Now, for the update. While we have heard from sources throughout the week that Currie feels comfortable with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano if he needs to go there, the buzz in the profession the past 24 hours has been that Mike Leach seems to have a very good shot at being offered the position.

The expectation from those we’ve spoken with is that Leach would accept the position if offered. We can further add that sources tell FootballScoop Washington State officials have had internal discussions about their plans should Leach move on (in addition to Tennessee, Leach could be wind up being a target at other SEC schools as well). In the event they need to make a hire, sources tell FootballScoop Washington State would move without hesitation to promote defensive coordinator Alex Grinch to head coach.

Now, back on the Tennessee front, word has been shared that Dan Mullen reportedly headed out recently to meet with John Currie. It is unclear at this time if Tennessee funded that trip or if Jimmy Sexton did.

Tennessee and Ohio State play today and Washington State plays tonight. A Washington State win tonight would send Leach’s squad into the Pac-12 Championship and Ohio State has already punched their ticket for the Big Ten Championship. It is unclear it Tennessee would be able to secure either Leach or Schiano before those games.
Football scoop you are what your record says you are. 0 confidence in your information nor your opinion

What are you trying to say?

Once and for all on the Gruden won with Dungy's players BS. I'm so sick of hearing this crap.

1. Who do you think coached that TEAM all year long when Gruden won the Super Bowl.
2. Gruden coached in the Super Bowl against a Team he built from OakLand

3. With that Logic Butch Jones could take Bama to win a National Chanpionship,do you really thnik that would happen
4. Also with that logic, you same ppl think Nick Saban would take this years Tn team to a Natty (Wouldn't Happen).
5.Gruden coached all year long with his play calls his coaches his players.
6. You think Dungy was calling plays in the Super Bowl Gruden won. NO

Really some of you guys kill me with your logic.

Be the first to tell you I know nothing and have no sources, along with the other 99.6% on here that won’t admit it. Just my thoughts. If someone did truly KNOW, this thread wouldn’t exist. As far as Gruden and ESPN, I’ve seen it all. But the truth is Gruden could announce for any station. ESPN or not. Let’s be honest.

Another to the list. Why wait all this time and come in with this sh*t?
