If this upcoming announcement is not only announcing Jon Gruden as our new HC, but also Gruden announcing a star staff made up of VFLs then that would truly be “asteroid” level announcement as Beav commented earlier. I have trouble even imagining a moment as wonderful as that compared to where our football program has been the past 10 years. It would make the big bold statement that TENNESSEE IS BACK!!! Wow!

I haven't necessarily been cryptic, even though I am sure this will sound cryptic. I have been consistent with the very limited but what I believe to be very good info that I have. I sound cryptic because i can only add one ingredient to the pie. If i were to tell you all I believe it would be manufactured from a plethora of info that we have all seen plus the danger that hope creates.

Allow me an analogy...My ingredient makes me believe that I maybe know what kind of pie we will have. Could I be wrong? Of course.

For example...Try to find another pie that uses buttermilk rather than a buttermilk pie...i don't know of one. So...If i think I got buttermilk in the recipe I don't believe we are having a pecan pie, a pumpkin pie, or a strawberry pie. I think we are having a buttermilk pie. And, if others believe we are having a buttermilk pie as well then I say, "I think we are having buttermilk pie." Sometimes that is all we can bring. One ingredient. That is what all of us are doing. Piecing something together from what we know/don't know. At the end of the day it could be a pie we have never heard of...or it could be what we all hope it is...a buttermilk pie. Even our news regarding Austin is helpful. But as far as telling you where I got my ingredient. Sorry. No-can-do. That stays on my chest.

Bersa is a gun that doesn't get the respect I think it deserves. Not talking the little 380, but the BP concealed carry models. I paid under $330 new, put well over 500 rds without a hiccup. I had their Thunder Ultra compact in 45 as a truck gun. Beat it to death and it always went bang. It wouldn't eat steel cases when new, but got better after shooting it. Grude gun for the money.

Realized something funny about myself this morning:

I used to read most of the threads in the Football Forum of VN.com. Not all of them, I'd skip over "Look what shirt I added to my Vols collection!" but anything actually about football and the team, I'd read.

Now I find myself skipping huge amounts of it, because so many threads are created to discuss coaching alternatives...that I know will never happen. Because they're not about Jon Gruden.

So these days, I'm only reading like 4-5 threads regularly. What a sea change, brought about by the coaching search and finding the really awesome community that exists only in the OJG thread series.

Imagine a coach who has been signed, but not yet announced, tells John Currie: "Hey John, go hire this fellow; he's a wunderkind who can help greatly once we're all together in Knoxville."

And John Currie says, "Sure thing, Jon, I like how you're thinking. Consider it done, Austin's coming home."

I'm not saying that's how it played out, but that's how it played out.
