Official Jon Gruden thread XLI

Gruden has been the name we have heard loudest. In 2012 it is pretty much common knowledge that the interest was real. In 2017 there is no doubt a even bigger more serious push. Nothing has been squashed, this could have been put too rest awhile back but it has not been. And the reason in my opinion is that we have found our coach. GRUDEN TO BIG ORANGE COUNTRY!!!!!!!SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we,as a fanbase, take into account what has been revealed by those whom we have diligently vetted to make sure we aren't being trolled one factor that is stressed is the fact that there is a "long term plan." Simply put, UT's biggest boosters are tired of the repeated coaching searches and their long term plan is definitely to bring in the UT alumni with good coaching success. This had occurred previously with Majors to Fulmer/Chavis.

Gruden, the most knowledgeable, will simply lead the way in the beginning with Tee Martin waiting in the wings or R.Sanders. Martin will likely be favored because of his success in the recruiting area. Dale Jones will likely start out as position coach,(LBer's) as an understudy of a DC that's difficult to pinpoint. Dale will eventually be DC at UT.

The money spent to hire Gruden and staff will simply have a good return. Look for J.Witten to join the staff also in time. This isn't far-fetched at all. One of the biggest advantages of hiring alumni is they will "want" to coach here because UT is considered a destination job. This lessens the chance of a good coach leaving abruptly for presumed greener pastures.

One final consideration is that UT is doing almost parallel to what Bama did when they hired Saban. I do not think UT is following Bama's lead but instead taking it further by bringing in alumni in it's staff. This, IMO, is well thought out and has been discussed in this forum. Makes perfect sense to me. Those not on board early or skeptical now will soon be on board. Winning is a cure-all.

So, we have "insiders" saying it's Mullen, "insiders" saying it's Petersen, "insiders," "insiders," "insiders......"

I can't wait to make my list of who is full of ish next week.

Agreed. This thread is about hope and positive energy as much as it is about Gruden imo....but yeah it is mostly about Gruden.

Also agreed. I think we all genuinely want Gruden, but I think as much as that we want tangible proof that our people will try to knock it out of the park, and the ball will actually clear the fence. We want to know that when we ask the homecoming queen to prom, she says yes.

Been standing in line over an hour already at Bass Pro waiting on hubby's background check. They are so unorganized. Pitiful.

Academy is usually the same way around here. I’ve recently made it a point to support my local gun shop - much more efficient, rarely any lines, and personal service.

Also, soon.

Exactly. When you are coaching at your alma mater there is never a time when you say f it and quit on everyone.
