I have said it to everyone I know...if Alabama lost their first three strings and half of their fourth strings they could still beat us all day...hinges on coaching the talent we have...you can't tell me that we don't have more talented kids than all of the sec...freshman, senior, first time starting, or playing their 20th game if they don't have the coaching then it doesnt mean squat!

Realistic? He makes 4.9 million now. We would have to give him a raise. So minimum 6 million a year pay. You don’t think 6+ million a year can realistically only get Mullen?

It's not all about the money. Obviously it is a big factor but you also have to take in consideration the fit of the family in the actual city, the AD, recruiting challenges, etc...

For example, could you see Chip Kelly in Knoxville? Doesn't seem like a good fit

Guarantano was the #1 dual threat QB in his recruiting class. With the right coaching staff and proper development, he could have been a great QB this year... It all comes back to coaching, no matter how you try to spin it.

I agree completely! Just to add to that. We have some talent at all the skill positions. The D looked good in the first quarter, and a half of almost every game. We could have had a much different season with better coaching, and less injuries.

I'm gonna say this one more time. Peterson only moved to Washington from Boise for better care of his severely disabled child. He's not going to leave for any job as I understand it. He's devoted to getting his child the best care. Not saying we couldn't provide that in the State of Tennessee... But he's not gonna make cross country trip to do this.

You are fake news

As fans, we shouldn’t really give a crap about the money. It makes no difference to us if we pay a coach 5 million or 20 million. I agree 6 million is a lot for someone like Mullen, but that’s not why I don’t want him.

I dont care what you are coming out of highschool. College is a different Beast. For being the #1 "dual threat" QB he was god awful. And that is not all because of coaching. Some yes, but he was terrible. Couldnt hit wide open receivers and for being "dual threat" he looked scared every time the pocket broke down. And to top it off his attitude seemed to be real sh**ty when he didnt get his way (Georgia tech game on side line).

Hell yea I could see Kelly here! I promise if he has 4 BCS bowls in the next 4 years, while only losing 7 games total. He would be LOVED!

That’s top 5 pay in the country. We can get a top 10 coach for that. No reason to overpay. Mullen is NOT worth Urban Meyer money. We would be the laughing stock of college football.

I’m not sold on Smart long term. He took over a really good program. Let’s see if he can keep winnng 11+ ?

I've been saying this to friends and family for a while. Has a lot of Florida 2012 vibes to it. Except Florida at least beat a lot of ranked teams that also finished the season ranked.

Georgia's only quality win came against notre dame, who beat USC and Michigan state (two teams who I still can't decide how good they actually are) and got shredded by Miami. The only other quality team they've played is Auburn, who demolished them. Their opponents' combined win percentage is 60% (I excluded samford). There's a good chance that they only beat one team that finishes the season ranked.

I might be wrong, and Smart may end up being a very good coach. But I think the talking heads have been blowing a ton of smoke up his butt based on a fairly weak resume. It would be more justifiable with a few more wins against ranked teams, but they are somewhat hampered by their schedule in that regard. The bama/auburn sec championship will tell us a lot I think.

TL, DR - we really don't have any idea whether or not smart is a good coach yet so people need to hold off on the adulation I've seen on here

About how I feel. They do have a lot of talent coming in. But, they may lose a QB, and RB to us. If Gruden comes.

Remember Dobbs’s 1st start? He wasn’t that great either...

1st start: Missouri 2013 (L) = 240 yds (45 rush) 0 TD’s and 2 picks.

2nd start: Auburn 2013 (L) = 128 yds (50 rush) 0 TD’s and 1 pick

3rd start: Vandy 2013 (L) = 53 yds (23 rush) 0 TD’s and 2 picks.

Good point...you got me there.

So you're saying Butch was a great coach because look how he turned out.

Just kidding on above statement of course.

Anyway this is a Gruden thread dont want to get too far off topic. All im saying is i hope the fan base doesnt get too unrealistic with whoever the new coach is. It will take a couple years to get BIG time again

Too many Grudenites saying "if we don't get Gruden I'd be happy with ...". Too many negative vibes! GRUDEN TO THE HILL.

Come on in, the water is fine.
