I haven’t seen anything that would make me think Dan Mullen could beat Kirby smart once a year or Nick Saban twice a year to get us an SEC championship not to mention LSU/ATM/Auburn every few years. So if he can’t win an SEC championship here I don’t want to even consider him.

So the only argument for Mullen is that it was his QBs 1st start? If anything he could have used that to his advantage because OM defense was preparing for Fitzgerald. New QB = New Playing style. Advantage: State.

Plus it was a home game.

Plus OM was being coached by an interim who was promoted from offensive line coach.

Losing Fitzgerald did nothing but level the playing field... and Dullen blew it.

We have the 2nd most talented team in the East this year. With a decent coaching staff, we would have been 2nd in the East. With a great coaching staff, we could have been 1st.

Are we forgetting the fact that we dont have a quarterback that can play for Tennessee Tech much less compete in the SEC? Without a QB the rest of the talent doesnt matter. And even with a homerun hire it will take at minimum one year to get a half way successful QB (unless a transfer comes)

Guarantano was the #1 dual threat QB in his recruiting class. With the right coaching staff and proper development, he could have been a great QB this year... It all comes back to coaching, no matter how you try to spin it.
