He’s been kicking power five teams asses for years with those “white boy” 2* recruits He’d take our current team and win the east next yr!

Stop being dumb! I want Gruden as bad as anyone but if Petersen is the guy then I’m 100% on board with the hire!
I wanted him 5 yrs ago!

Winning the east next year isn't going to happen no matter who the coach is. This roster has gaping holes and depth issues throughout. This is a two or three year rebuild for a homerun hire.

Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe. Everyone loses a game they shouldn’t sooner or later, that can’t be a disqualifier.

If butch was roasted for almost losing to UMass but Mullen did lose to SA? How does one reconcile these two things? Mullen also lost to KY last season.

If he comes to UT he will last 1 season at most.

128-28 career record. Long-term sustainment and improvement of the Boise State program. Proper rebuild and development of Washington program on the heels of Drunk Sarkissian.

Part of what Gruden represents for many of us who believe he should be the coach is symbolic. Instead of chasing a mid-major coach lacking experience at the higher echelons of college coaching, Tennessee would actually be trying to go for a man who has won at the highest levels of the game.

Gruden threads are about more than just the man himself; they state a hunger from those posting on them to see Tennessee go for the best instead of taking the lowest common denominator.

To get a coach on Gruden's level and undeniable ability would demonstrate to the nation on an immediate level that Tennessee is back in the business of playing elite football.

I would be happy with Petersen or Patterson. They are proven program-builders at the P5 level. They are winners who can challenge and win championships.

Mullen would bring us a competent SEC-level coach who is mentally stable and would not fear the challenges of the job. Not sure he would give us more than that and I believe more than competence is needed after a decade of rot.

Well stated and so very true, Vol fans are absolutely starving for UT football to become relevant once again:cray:

Guess we have to "Trust the process" :)

thought that would give you a smile just having fun my friend ...

Oh, I'm right as the mill and you're good. I also understand your reluctance to chase this or believe it. That's totally fine.

I don't trust anything our former coach says. :)

Just went back and was reading some of the 2012 threads. It’s a good read, but I sure hope the results are different this time around!

I'm having a hard time imagining Mulligan to the Hill, this one doesn't rhyme either:)

Big time Grumor floating around on Twitter that Gruden has reached out to Eason about transferring. Obviously no established media are reporting that but I’ve seen it from UGA fans as well.

You make it seem like the SEC East is the AFC North. Ok UGA is good but they’re losing Michel and Chubb. Who else in the Easy are you afraid of? Let the man coach. Don’t start making excuses already. We must have higher expectations.

First interview question ever asked of a potential coach is this, "Coach, on 1st and goal inside the five, what are you going to line up in offensively?" Any answer besides the I or its power variants should bring an immediate end to said interview.

Miss St lost starting qb early to terrible injury..had to go with freshman all game

So he's in a similar situation as Tennessee is right now at qb, but with a healthier team overall, but still losing to a mediocre opponent?

Sorry but it is fools gold.

What connection did Urban Meyer have to the south when he took over UF? What connection did Saban have to the south when he took over LSU?

Like I said, there is a reason that Meyer kept his interim HC predecessor, Charlie Strong, on staff. Saban brought Jimbo and Dooley on at LSU when he arrived in 2000 and he held over Mike Haywood.

But has he lost to an interim??

Also I’m guessing that was either his first year at bama or before then... dumb argument... this in’s happening right befor ppl want him... if they lose they are 8-4 lol and that’s what ppl want And defending losing... I’m guessing the majority of ppl who want him would also be happy with 7-5 to 8-4 every year and we’re prob ok with butch being back next year if we woulda made a bowl game. To say yes bring on another 8-4 coach is crazy to me but I’m just a guy who has ate to much food today.

LIKE this post if Gruden/Grumors were discussed at your Thanksgiving Dinner.

For me, you could tell it was on everyone’s mind. Someone opened the door and it was all downhill from there. The wives were thrilled.

Approached table. “So who you guys going to hire?” I said Gruden. 20 minutes later he agreed if we did not make that big play UT would wander for another 10 years. He agreed that M###%% would be see you in 4-5 years for next search hire and most of others too. Gruden Patterson Peterson only game changer types G being grand slam that would get us back. ...Big Barn fan headed to game on Sat

Give me Trevor Lawrence. Eason is a douchebag and everyone on that campus hates him. If you’re hearing it from UGA fans it’s provably because they HOPE it’s true.

You’re basing that off our piss poor coaching!
