Just wishful thinking. Trying to use the process of elimination. I’m all Gruden until proven otherwise. I would be Ok with Petersen or Patterson, its a hard no on Mullen.

I'm aware of that. And personally, I think they're cray-cray.

Nevertheless, I stand by my conviction that we're all entitled to our own beliefs, weird as they might be, UNLESS they affect our job performance or other critical areas.

If you're not willing to defend other people's wacko religious orientations, you will eventually find yourself defending your own. :dunno:

I don't care how good a coach he is, he's not going to win the SEC with the Idaho white boys football club. How is he going to recruit down here? Who are his go-to assistants with SEC ties who can recruit lights out, 'cause if he can't do it he's going to need about 5 Trooper Taylors?

I get that, but it’s like saying Urban Meyer can’t recruit the south after being at Utah. As we’ve seen with our last 2 coaches, Tennessee recruits itself.

I absolutely agree. But in the south you can't recruit unless you're praying with somebody's mama in their living room.

Although I might not have a lot of patience for some religions, I don't think that's any basis for hiring a football coach.

Unless their religion says to pass from the shotgun at the one yard line or something. That's different.

It is not the be all end all in judgement of a coach. That said certain things and associations people keep speak volumes to their character. It is the same reason any NCAA college, and especially the NFL, vets the associates any potential player keeps.

I hope I did not lead you to think my response was an attack on you, but I often get lost in the weeds when I try to dig as deep as you and some others do.

I believe you have tried to look into thing deeply and fairly level headed, however I am wise enough to know that when someone wants something bad enough they can also find things that are not truly there... NOT SAYING YOU HAVE...

I just find it much easier for me to back off and believe the simpler things ....as I said earlier my lack of brain cells :)

Bringing Mullen into Knoxville makes no sense at all. Check, meet him in Jackson at the Cracker Barrel off I 40. Get a good meal then tell him thanks but we ain't helpin you and snake sexton get a raise. Then don't pick up his part of the tab.
