Early October 2017 Rumors start that Coach Jones will not be back for the 2018 season and was informed after the UGA game. Vols continue playing uninspired football and lose four of the next five games with Jones at the helm.

Nov 13, 2017 Athletic Director John Currie officially releases Jones, names Coach Brady Hoke as interim head coach.
13-17 Nov 2017 (Rumored) Jon Gruden signed as newest head coach at UT. Announcement not made public, however, many say the deal is done and not all are connected to UT Athletics. Zero word from the Athletic Department as Currie has information flow on lockdown.
