Official Jon Gruden thread XLI

Jon Gruden thinks about, plans for, and works on football stuff basically every day. Not just in preps for MNF. He eats, lives, and sleeps football. So it's not 60 days a year.

And if he's going from $ 7 million a year to $ 10 million a year at a place where he will be revered, yeah it's happening.

Spot on. One of the reasons JG is so popular at ESPN is because of how hard he works at his craft. Føøtball and family is his life. UT is the perfect spot for him.

Wheat I like Boulevard, Sweatty Betty (Boulder brewing), and Schlafly Hefe. For Stouts this is my all time fav.

Good taste! :clapping:

I bounce between wheat beers and stouts myself, and find the infatuation with pale ales to be completely dumbfounding. My favorite stouts tend to include vanilla, and my favorite of those is Southern Tier's Crème Brûlée Imperial Milk Stout: Creme Brulee Imperial Milk Stout (Blackwater Series) | Southern Tier Brewing Company | BeerAdvocate (yes I copied the name, I had no idea how all that crazy accent stuff played out)

As for the other reason I finally replied to somebody here, it's piloting. I grew up absolutely infatuated with Top Gun. I would grill my babysitters over diagrams of F4s and A10s to make sure they understood how everything worked (in my mind, at least). Long story short, I decided that I wanted to fly Navy jets or Marine helicopters. Graduated Valedictorian of Morristown West but decided to stick to my guns--so I approached both recruiting offices and was turned down by both. Turns out that falling off a high diving board and shattering your left arm and shoulder kept you out of the service back then.

Wound up graduating from UT with a Computer Engineering degree and work at Siemens here in Knoxville on PET scanners (love the tech corridor here <3). I got my actual flying (skydiving) license well before I even began working on my private pilot's license, but that's a story for a different day. My father actually wound up buying a Bonanza and I'm logging time on it slowly but surely to finally get my wings.

I think secretly all these trolls really want Gruden as bad as we all do but battered fan syndrome has affected them all to think that we are Vandy now and should be happy with the Dan M***** type hire.

They will never admit that. But secretly they think about it everyday. That “what if” just won’t go away. So they sneak in every now and then just to see if they missed anything while they were i the mediocre thread. I mean the Mullen thread.

No, because it will probably be a Scooby Doo type situation where the new coach comes out in a Gruden mask only to be revealed to be the return of Dooley.

I know you have been beat down as a Vol fan as we all have but it's ok to believe that there are better days ahead.

Except for the plane landing that some random business guy was on and the Thursday/Friday/Saturday/ Sunday announcement that never occurred.

Except for I don't recall the Beav ever mentioning a plane landing on any certain day with any certain person aboard.

Exactly!

The moonshine is java coffee..my wife likes it..I like her to be happy 😉

Yes yes, java coffee moonshine, it's hard for me to type out java coffee, as I find that to be a horrifically redundant statement.

As for making the wife happy, I understand that completely. I had to deal with my wonderful and lovely (and pregnant) wife coming home tonight after a girls night out for dinner/movie grilling me on the reasons why JJ was dismissed from the team. "I come home to find out that Jennings was kicked off the team???!?!!!?!! I can't even enjoy a night out with the girls and UT actively tries to ruin any hope for the future I have???"

I told her I had given the 5 year old a bath and put him to bed already, and had laid out her PJ's on the bed and placed her current book and her nightly glass of water on the nightstand. She calmed down promptly.

I really do hope we announce Gruden next week. I want a coach to excite me again. I want a coach that will energize and unify the team and fanbase. A coach that will finally give us all hope again. I'll always be a Vol and I'll never turn my back on Tennessee. But I'm afraid if we screw this hire up we will not be good for another decade or ever again. It is sad watching the fanbase dwindle and not seeing as many Tennessee flags flying, stickers plastered all over cars, and people proudly showing off their orange and white.

All it takes is a good season or a couple big wins and the southeast lights up with TN orange

PET certified here. Siemens are my favorite scanners. Keep up the good work

Heck, let's just go get Mullen and be done with all this hype, 3rd or 4th place in the east isn't that bad, we could probably beat SC or Missouri at least every other year, and we'll have fun watching the bowl games without having to travel and worry about championships and stuff, yea, that's the ticket....why do we have to settle for that crap, let's DO THIS and get back to where we were supposed to be before the Kiffen's, Dooley's and Jones' botched this job

I have exceedingly pedestrian tastes in beer. Some may say "a trailer park beer palate".

Coors Light, Southpaw Light, Yuengling Light are my go-tos. Blue Moon is pretty adventurous for me.

I can't hang with all you stout/porter guys. I can't do really dark, heavy, knife and fork beers.
