Have watched this forum for many years and only posted once. My point, I am more convinced today than at any other point in the past 10 years that we have a big fish on the hook. Now, that fish may not get to the boat. But I would strongly encourage all to take the advice of others including Boro and relax. This process is not going to be completed today, tomorrow or even next week. Enjoy the ride and I honestly think we are on the brink of returning our program to what it once was. I'll never forget the headline in the "Tennessean" many years ago when Johnny Majors was hired, "Tennessee Returns to the Majors" I think we will have the same type of headline.

Tennessee Code Annotated 8-30-301(b): the commissioner shall give public notice of a job opening at least one (1) week prior to the closing of the application period.

Yep...my poor example of a father is a disgraced preacher, turned truck driver. He spent nearly 25 years in the ministry. Luckily his shortcomings didn't damage my faith. Sometimes a bad example is a good example of what NOT to do.

Even this only applies to civil service employees and wouldn't have a bearing on an athletic hire..

This is what I know. I was hired as an assistant coach at a state school 6 years ago. The former position coach left 1 week before spring practice. Due to this they were able to hire me under an "Emergency Hire" stipulation so I could begin coaching immediately and forego the required 30 day job posting. The "Emergency Hire" period lasted for 1 year at which point they had to post my job again for 30 days, interview me and two other candidates, and rehire me on a permanent basis. Sounds silly, but was the required protocol. I have no idea if this also applies to head coaches and it obviously could have changed over the last 6 years, but at one point the 30 day thing was a reality.

Great to hear your faith remained Boro. I’ve moved from traditional ministry to marketplace. Run a very successful business and have had more opportunities than ever before.

Correct, but it's the only posting period provided in the statute that I could see. Bottom line, hiring the coach wouldn't be effectively limited by a posting period.

For anyone interested I'll actually be on the radio preaching tomorrow at 7:30 on 100.7fm. My wife and I are the youth directors at our church and our youth choir will be singing as well. Would love to have yal tune in!
