If we do let him go during the season I see no reasonable way to hire a current college coach the early signing period really limits that option? Unless we are sacrificing the current commitment list for 2018? JMO

It's been mentioned before, but I have had some experience in this area and unless something has changed in the last 5 years State universities are required to post all jobs for a period of 30 days and can't make an announcement until this has been fulfilled. There is a way around it in some instances by making an "Emergency Hire", but this is normally for unusual circumstances i.e. an assistant coach up and leaving two weeks before the season and a replacement is needed ASAP. Not 100% on this but unless there is something that would make this an "Emergency Hire" it will take at least 30 days before a new coach is announced. Like I said this could have changed since I had experience with it so TIFWIW.

If we don't have a position open for a coach, how can we name one right after Butch is fired? That would mean we were working behind his back. Doesn't look good on the SD if so.

I don’t know that’s why I asked. It has been posted that UT being a state school the job opening has to be posted for 30 days. So I would assume that you can’t name a new coach during that time even if you already know who it is. Soon

Someone who is claiming that gruden said no but states that this information is not coming from UTAD..it's from Volquest. I'm seriously gonna pissed off if we got get a guy like norvell who is benefiting from Fuente building up the roster.

it was a roller coaster like this 5 years ago also. It will all come to a screeching halt or the Volnation server will crash if it is Gruden. It will be extreme one way or another. Best to prepare yourself for both.
