So we went from the notion of Gruden to the Vols as laughable just a few days ago to the likes of Hubbs and LWS acknowledging tonight that the Vols are targeting Gruden and that its a possibility (even if its remote).
Compare that to just a few days when John Pendegrass and rest of the clowns on the SportsSource were laughing at the very idea of Gruden coaching Vols and the moron named Jimmy Hyams was openly saying he thought Butch Jones would be back next year.
I would call this progress.
.First off, I don't believe they fire Butch unless he loses the seventh game of the season and he doesn't make a bowl, UT is far to cheap to pay the almost 14 million needed for his buyouts and his assistants. If he does lose the seventh game Butch is done at UT, but the administration is hoping for the 6-6 season and they will make Currie sell his return for next season.
Second, if he loses seven or more games, he gets fired but there's a chance he will continue to coach the rest of the season. The only was he gets fired with a chance at a winning record is if he agrees to a buyout offer made by UT.
Third, I don't believe Butch will ever take less money to walk away mid season.
Fourth, Gurden will never be the head coach at UT.
Fifth, if Butch does get fired UT will get an inexperienced coach to replace him.
Sixth, all UT cares about is making money, they aren't fully committed to winning championships again.
The last ten years these two gruden threads have been the highlight of vol life.
Is there a more rabid fan base in America? Team has been Terrible for a decade but the passion is as strong as ever. It's insane how many people just want this program to succeed.
I'm not so sure we're gonna get anymore nuggets after the non faithful came after Boro and DTO with torches and pitchforks last night.

He may last 4 - 5 yrs here. Don't think he would stay as long as Saban is at Ala. Would Gruden's personality allow him to be second fiddle in SEC?.
I agree UT is where he would go if he wants to coach again. I would be tickled if he came here, don't see it happening. It will be a mid level coach from MidWest.
I'm basing my opinions from past actions at UT.
What are you basing your opinion on? Rumors and induendo?
DTO said he was done and Boro seemed pretty frustrated too. Probably just heat of the moment.
