Ohh lawd!! I take my wife out for her birthday and come back to a full blown frenzy.
The last pages of the previous thread was like watching sharks in a chum cloud. The one bright spot was Preacher discovering the gift of gifs ... Awesome!!
The beauty of the Gruden threads is the overriding optimism of those that want Tennessee to shoot for the Grude. Gruden represents that ultimate mixture of a championship NFL head coach, respected football knowledge, national name recognition, humor, TV presence and deep ties to The University of Tennessee and the State. He represents the best of Johnny Majors, Phillip Fulmer and John Ward. He is the closest and best thing that we think can take us to those good times. Peyton is not going to coach; Tee is building his resume on the West coast; and Jim Bob is doing the same in the NFL.
I have had season tickets and donated for the last 30 years and have contacts in the University and Volunteer Fund; I have a few VFLs that I went to school with; and other VFLs that I have sat with in Neyland for the last 20 years. The point being, even with all that, I dont have any real insider information. I can get a feel from them what is brewing, but nothing verifiable. Hell, for all I know they get their info from VN.
I dont post much or follow a specific VN group (FF, RF, PF, Pub or Zone). I will admit that I do get much lulz from the Zoners, so I guess they are my favorites. I dont personally know DTO, Boro, Slice or Knucklehead or who, or how-well placed, their contacts may be. I do know that they have been on VN for the long haul. Ive been on here since 2008, lurking until I signed up in 2011. After that many years, you get a feel for those posters that bring solid good information for the most part and to the best of their ability, primarily because they want to share with their VN brothers and sisters. Nobody was more bummed than Boro after the 2012 let down. But dag-nab-it, we had some fun with it.
The one thing I learned in 2012 was
it aint over till its over, good or bad, so enjoy the ride or GTFO.
