The broken person has to be willing. Haven't spoken to him in 6 years....after a previous estrangement of 10 years.
One can only try for so long...I did, and finally had to turn my full attention toward the family I had made. I've never looked back.
Wasn't his "choice" to leave the ministry....his abusive hypocrisy became too apparent, parents split etc. It was just a "job" with flexible hours and a car allowance to him....not the calling it should have been.Interesting ... I almost, almost quit the ministry and went to truck driving. The very week I was going to start CDL school, I wound up preaching in a little country church in South Carolina. Been here ever since. I guess the Lord knew what He was doing, even if I did not.
Sorry to hear about your dad.
Faith in God is a very personal thing.
At some point, the God of mom and dad has to become "my" God.
Glad He's yours.
Bingo.
IMO, folks need to quit moping because they're not hearing some hot new grumor every 10 minutes. This stuff takes time. It's like people *****in' because the microwave popcorn is popping to slow...
Trying to negotiate a deal with Gruden! If you want to read too much into it he also said it is just a matter when...so done deal because they have been talking to Gruden and need extra money from Haslam.Trying to make Tennessee great doesn't sound good. Sounds like he tried buy failed
I pastor a small church in rural Indiana. I don't get paid because my wife is a dentist and we're doing okay, (I've had to swallow a lot of pride over the years).
Even though I don't get a salary, I do it because I love it. It's what I've been called to do. It would drive me crazy if I ever had to stop.
Maybe it's the same thing with Gruden. People wonder why he would leave a nice, comfortable job to go back into coaching. But if that is what he loves, then it would make less sense for him to stay away. Some people work at a job and some people work for their passion. It is a blessing when they're the same.
