Then you probably should have limited your statement to Bcarter.

Clown.

Tell em Boro. I've been with you and the other OG's from the beginning. Every thing you have said has come to past. You warned that this would get maddening with all the rumors and smokescreens that were sure to come near the end. I will give it up when Dave Hart or JG come out publicly and say it's over.

So do we think this really came down to money? Just curious how it went from so positive last night to ZERO chance in 12 hours? Mind blowing how things can change that quickly.

Even if things turn out right with JG, this has been handled very strangely. I'm not sure Hart realizes that literally every Vol fan is teetering over the edge of a cliff right now.

The continuing ineptitude of the UT administration is mind boggling and not surprising anymore. This coaching search is only one small aspect of what I am talking about.

Not gonna leave Jon Gruden as my avatar when I am off the "believer" wagon.

Franklin has done things in a similar academic situation and a fraction of the budget. He would be a HUGE upgrade over Dooley. He is going to win 9 games this year at Vandy. I prefer him to Strong or Fedora.

Franklin is nothing but a snake oil salesman. No way could I support that douche!!

Actually, he would be mediocre at best. 3-4 years of 7 or 8 win seasons.
Most of the players wouldn't want to play for someone that they played against.
The money from boosters and fans would not be there.
And, not to mention, Vandy. Why would anyone associated with TN want something that came from there. We should want better.

So he got VANDY to 8/9 wins in his second year on the job, but couldn't get that many in 3/4 yrs at UT???

Get the hell outta here.. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Question: If we did not have the money to hire Gruden, despite booster involvement etc. and Hart knew we had to hire him and his staff what would he do? What I would probably do (since you can't just trick or treat your boosters for cash in a coaching search) is flirt on the line between Gruden and mediocrity and claim we don't have the money...sound familiar? How many boosters do you think have called our AD BEGGING them to hire Gruden in the last few weeks? smokescreens = buying time?

Here is my logic (if I was Hart).

If the boosters and the fans want Gruden and you don't get him if you could have had him, you lose your job.

If you get Gruden and guarantee pay that UT can't afford, you lose your job.

The difference is winning. If Gruden comes and wins, he pays for himself and you get to keep your job. All other options mean you lose your job. Why not go with the only option that means you get to stay employed?

Keep fighting the good fight, chief! Lol.. If I would've known u were this mature at the beginning, I wouldn't have listened to a word ur troll self said. It's obvious what your agenda has been, and now u see everything coming down and you're angry.. Really angry..

Especially considering that everything he has said has pretty much happened exactly the way he said it would.... I wish all "trolls" were as informative...

Carter, sorry if you have already answered this, but what changed? Gruden's decision? Or AD not ponying up the money, which is what Hargis was reporting?

If he doesn't end up here I'll be the first to admit that my information was flawed with no reservation. Until then you'll just have to be happy trolling me.

A chronology of comments about Nick Saban taking the head coaching job at Alabama:

Nov. 27:
Saban: "When I was in college it was always about coming to the pros. This is the challenge I wanted. I had a good college job. Why would I have left that if I was going to be interested in other college jobs?

"I took this as a challenge. We certainly haven't seen this through and gotten where we want to go and finished the job here, so why would I be interested in something else?"

Dec. 5:
Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga (after giving Saban a vote of confidence): "I am completely sold on Nick Saban. I would admit we made a mistake if we did make a mistake, but I firmly believe in Nick Saban."

Dec. 7:
Saban: "I'm flattered that they may have been interested in me, but it never really progressed, because we just never let it progress."

Dec. 21:
Saban: "I guess I have to say it. I'm not going to be the Alabama coach. ... I don't control what people say. I don't control what people put on dot-com or anything else. So I'm just telling you there's no significance, in my opinion, about this, about me, about any interest that I have in anything other than being the coach here."

Dec. 27:
Saban: "I'm just making a rule to never comment on something like that again because every time you comment on it, it just makes for another story. So I'm not going to comment on it five years from now, and I'm not going to comment on it next week."

Jan. 4:
Saban: "What I realized in the last two years is that we love college coaching because of the ability that it gives you to affect people, young people. ... If I knew that my heart was someplace else in what I wanted to do, I don't think it would be fair to the [Dolphins] organization if I stayed."

After repeated denials, Saban takes Bama job - College Football - ESPN

More on Gruden. I will get blasted for sharing that though since it is not what many on here want to hear. I am amazed how many pay attention only to info that supports what they want.
Can you answer one question so I can see if it is the same thing I have heard? Does it pertain to his family and the reason he has not coached anywhere?

At this point, I don't think it matters. I'd rather know the truth than hear some BS to make me feel better.

LOL actually first. I dropped to 50-50 at one point when I got some negative information.

This is the first time I am saying unequivocally that I DO NOT believe even the slightest at this point that Jon Gruden will be the HEad Coach of the Vols. Straight enough for you? I am as pissed as anyone about it, but reasonable enough to see the massive amount of writing on the wall. Not a single credible person I know says it is still an option that can back it up with any specific names or information to make me believe anymore.

Might wanna let boro in on that..

Strange as this may sound, all of this reminds me of old World War II movies. Picture a submarine running silent, destroyers overhead, who are traversing zigzag routes while belching billowing clouds of black smoke . . . until one side or the other gets a clean kill shot. Touchdown Big Orange!!!

Get em BORO!!!!

Interesting how everyone is trashing Hart right now. But won't he look like a genius if all of this misinformation was all a part of a master plan (where have I heard that before)? Best part about it for Hart, is he can say it was all a part of the master plan and we'll never know the difference. All of this seems very calculated to me. I really don't see how any sane person can jump to any conclusions until we see how the whole process concludes and then the real facts start to hit the table.

I'm proud of the passion and interest our fan base is showing right now. But our behavior is showing both the best and the worst we have to offer. Let's keep the passion, but lose the back biting until we have the final story. Go Vols!!!
