How can Dave Hart say in the PC that he announced Fooley was out that, money would NOT be an obstecal in hiring a new coach then; say that money is the hang up on getting the new coach. Its a load one way or the other.

Speculation: Gruden and coaches would have been close to 9mil a year based on what was said here. That is a TON of money for an AD thats struggling financially.

What happens of he turns out to be Monte Kiffin and cant teach his crazy offense in 20 hours a week? He goes 6-6 3 straight years? Ticket sales slow and boosters decide they dont really want to keep giving hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to pay this guy?

People don't want to acknowledge it, but there is a potential downside to that hire.

No school has ever acknowledged offering any candidate except the one they hired. No candidate has ever acknowledged speaking to any school but the one they work for. Link me to a press release where a school said a prospective coach wasn't interested and I'll believe otherwise.

What the Knoxville media is reporting is as close as it will get to an official statement. These guys hedge everything, now they all say it's 100% dead. Writing is on the wall.

Not to mention Mike Freeman from CBS who is citing Gruden side sources.

This. The only hope at this point IMO is that a) Gruden has a change of heart; or b) the unofficial/official release is simply another method to buy Gruden another week or three until an announcement is made. But given that the sources on the booster side are starting to hear the "deal" fell through, it seems that b is very unlikely.

Just for the fun of it, what are you willing to bet? Don't come back with "ban bet" either; I would love to bet something worth something. Put up or STFU!

Sorry. Went away for a bit. I'll bet a nice steak dinner. How's that? Something classy, like Ryan's or Golden Corral. :)

Hargis is basically saying...

IF UT GAVE GRUDEN WHAT HE WANTED, HE WOULD BE OUR HEAD COACH.

All this spells to me is that this guy is credible enough for the UTAD to publicly announce something.

When either Gruden himself or the University officially comes out and says "No Deal"... i'll let it go. Until then, 'Boro and Liper are more reliable than anyone else I've seen here or anywhere else.

I don't believe any reports. I don't believe the positive ones from Brown, Hargis, or Haskew, and I don't believe the negative ones from guys like Hyams, Ward, Rucker, and Hubbs. It will play itself out.

I'm kind of that way too. I hope Boro, OV, DTO, Jay, Jake, Bcarter or some others get some fresh information whether it be positive or negative.

I am about to get crucified, but in light of the post from Leonard little, the guy down the road coaching that gold and black school, coaches with a chip on his shoulder ready to kick the a$$ of anyone who steps up. The same with the a-hole, kiffin. I believe Gruden has this mindset as well. Is this attitude is a must for our next hire. Who else on the list fits this mold?

I don't buy that. How does Saban do it then?

Anybody else notice the "at this time" part of JG quote?

"Coach Gruden after visiting with his family informed us that it was not a move his family wanted to make at this time."

It may be nothing but why wouldn't it be stated more definitively if there was absolutely zero chance? Seems he kinda left the door cracked just a little bit with the "at this time" remark. Just saying.

Would rather try and lose with Gruden than hire a cheap coach and lose anyways.
