historically speaking, what is the common amount of time between the press release of an offer and an official decline/acceptance from the coach?

Anyone else find it hard to believe there is a staff pay holdup? Thought money wasn't going to be a problem this round

Also wasn't the problem yesterday too much control?

Smells fishy.....or maybe that's just smoke as in "move along, nothing to see here". Yet. lol

Yeah I live in Johnson City myself. I'm from Knoxville but I go to school up here. I'm surprised because there seem to be a lot of Vol haters/gator lovers in the area.

I think it's due to the old ball coach being from there. Well, that and something I'm only willing to insinuate. (New Beginnings, San Fran, etc)

Personally I think it's all smoke. Money was never an issue, Hart made it clear that staff control wasn't up to him, etc. I think this has been done for a while, and that these are just stall tactics. To what end? I have no idea because, frankly, I'm just an idiot.

This is all noise. If he's coming, they are likely buying time for a variety of reasons. If it doesn't come to fruition, we will eventually find out it was a result of a number of issues that couldn't be resolved. If it fails to happen, I don't expect for a minute that you will be able to simply put your finger on a single issue or 2. JMO...

I used to think I was pretty stupid, but hang around this thread for 7 - 10 days and you will begin feeling smarter and smarter and smarter and smarter...

Sad but true story. I went to bed with laptop in hand and VN was the last thing I saw before sleep. I woke up and this is the first thing I did this morning. I have a problem.

Kingsport here to.. We having a re-union or something? Where's the bar? Wait, it's a bit early for that right?.. haaaaa..

Yeah and I hate it because we are so close to UT that this should be an ALL VOL area.

Bandwagon fans in the tri cities. I dont know your ages but im 31. Born in TN, grew up in NC and moved back to TN when I was 14. back in those days you didnt see anywhere near as much FL, Bama or *GAG* Virginia tech stuff.

In NC, its all basketball. And there were no bandwagon b-ball fans. You either loved UNC, Duke or sort of liked NC State or Wake. Any other schools apparrel or gear would get you horse-laughed at. I grew up about 20 minutes outside of Durham and ive been a duke b-ball fan since I was little. Back in the 80's and early 90's I didnt even know Duke and UNC had football teams until Hearing about Spurrier leaving for FL. If you ever heared anything about football over there in that period it was usually about the Tennessee Vols.

HE TOOK THE JOB:bash::bash::bash::bash::bash:

A chronology of comments about Nick Saban taking the head coaching job at Alabama:

Nov. 27:
Saban: "When I was in college it was always about coming to the pros. This is the challenge I wanted. I had a good college job. Why would I have left that if I was going to be interested in other college jobs?

"I took this as a challenge. We certainly haven't seen this through and gotten where we want to go and finished the job here, so why would I be interested in something else?"

Dec. 5:
Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga (after giving Saban a vote of confidence): "I am completely sold on Nick Saban. I would admit we made a mistake if we did make a mistake, but I firmly believe in Nick Saban."

Dec. 7:
Saban: "I'm flattered that they may have been interested in me, but it never really progressed, because we just never let it progress."

Dec. 21:
Saban: "I guess I have to say it. I'm not going to be the Alabama coach. ... I don't control what people say. I don't control what people put on dot-com or anything else. So I'm just telling you there's no significance, in my opinion, about this, about me, about any interest that I have in anything other than being the coach here."

Dec. 27:
Saban: "I'm just making a rule to never comment on something like that again because every time you comment on it, it just makes for another story. So I'm not going to comment on it five years from now, and I'm not going to comment on it next week."

Jan. 4:
Saban: "What I realized in the last two years is that we love college coaching because of the ability that it gives you to affect people, young people. ... If I knew that my heart was someplace else in what I wanted to do, I don't think it would be fair to the [Dolphins] organization if I stayed."

After repeated denials, Saban takes Bama job - College Football - ESPN
