From my perch, this is all somewhat strange. So I'll just tell you what I have been through the last two hours and see what you think.

1. At 10p, I got two simultaneous, unsolicited texts from a primary source (booster side) telling me the deal was off. No details. Nothing. I've still got nothing else from that end. But I held off because of crap like this.

2. TFP publishes article saying legit offer was on table for Gruden, directly quoting sources close to the deal.

3. At 12a, Babyvol says "It's done!"

4. At 12:30a Someone points me to a discussion on TOS where John Brice insinuates Hart may not stick around if Gruden is hired, and that he wants to go another direction.

You tell me?

Strange times my friend. I smell some backroom political intrigue...

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Blackburn the AsstAD/compliance wiz that managed to keep Kiffin's constant compliance grease fires from burning the whole house down?

He's capable, if Hart really does have his feelings hurt and decides to bounce, IMO.

IMHO Blackburn should have been selected when Hamilton left.

Exactly. Who benefits from this? Gruden's camp if they're truly interested in the job does. Read the story it's obvious.

But, a number of people (here and elsewhere) have said that money wouldn't be an issue. So where does this assistant coaches salary stuff come from? A deal is going to hang on that?
