We will not 100 percent close this door, but we continued digging into the Jon Gruden situation after our afternoon update and we’ve learned enough that we’d be surprised if Gruden and UT even had any more serious discussions about the Vols' coaching vacancy. It’s very important to note that from everything we’ve heard, this isn’t necessarily about anything UT did or didn’t do in its efforts to land Gruden. In speaking with multiple college and NFL sources close to Gruden and UT athletic director Dave Hart, we have been told Gruden has decided that he’s simply much comfortable with the NFL as opposed to the college game. Rules and regulations, lack of recruiting, abundance of practice time and other differences seem too big for UT to overcome. He’s just more comfortable in that league. UT has done a lot in order to get itself into discussions with Gruden. But we would be surprised if they go anywhere else from this point. We rarely say never, and this isn’t one of those rare times, but we would be surprised if anything more develops on that front. It’s true that UT and Gruden weren’t on the same page with money, but we think that could have worked itself out if that were the only issue.

SAIP,

Apparently there has been a directive from the SEC that no coaching announcements are to be made the day before the SECCG. I would greatly temper any expectations of anything tomorrow. Sorry, but I just found this out. Just being up front.

Or else what, a bowl ban?

I will be at the Bball game tomorrow and I can't wait! I hope to start drinking around 3pm tomorrow and celebrate as Stokes puts up a double double.

My source is the Puppy Picks on WBIR's "Live At 5"..He chose the bowl with Gruden's name on the front of it..If the dog says it's Gruden, then it's Gruden..

BOOM!

:fireworks::fireworks:

Well Smokey...I almost hate to say it as I am not in the know like the rest of the OGs, but here it goes....

I have said all along that I have heard we were close, but it wasn't done yet.......

Well I heard about 10 minutes ago that it is done.... Again nothing about my info has matched up exactly with most others so take it with a grain of salt....

The same person told me Vandy week also... Stated that they were not sure when the presser would be though...

Don't shoot the messenger, I am just passing on info that I get as I normally do....:hi:

Thanks for the info Jay. Seems that they saw what we were up to and decided to put the brakes on it. Better go ahead and announce it tonight then.

So let's have a press release tonight and press conference on Sunday!

There won't be a press conference tommorrow. It will leak however on Friday.

So basically... Gruden is scared. Wouldn't shock me. It's much tougher to coach in college than the pros.
