Everybody denies the rumors before the rumors become true, like almost EVERY time. No way was Gruden going to break that news on the stupid @ss Mike & Mike show.

FYI... Bob Stoops denial means absolutely nothing either. The man still has a job, why would he profess interest in another school? Of course he's going to deny.

7:18 A.M. Mark.........he just downplayed it a bit.....said he didn't have time to get into all that and lets move on sorta thing.....
go listen and decide for yourself.....But if he had NO interest in the TN job he had the opp right there to shoot it down and did not do so.....so KEEP THE FAITH....GRUDEN ALL DAY

This interview with Gruden on Mike and Mike is good news for Vol fans who want him as our HC. It was a primo opportunity for him to flatly state that he is not interested in the UT job and he didn't say that. And the contract was not "physically" in his hand. It was on his bedside table ;).

If Gruden isn't hired - this has been the biggest public relations disaster in recent memory for Tennessee Athletics.

The Gruden Fever has taken over.

Hart could go out and hire an absolutely Grade-A coach, and get nothing but negativity from the fanbase during the offseason.

He did, said there was "no truth to it and if there was he would have to let his wife in on it since it would effect she and the kids..."

With that said he was kinda flustered and wanted to move from the subject rather quick! :dunno:

I heard it to. He seemed to get a little agitated when they asked him that. Not quite sure what to read into it. Kind of disappointing though.
BUT, M&M did ask him if there was a contract in place and would be announced later today (or something like that), JG just said no. Maybe the powers that be at ESPN said they could ask him but it had to be done in that way.

If you do hear for yourself you'll feel way better about it. He basically brushes it off really quick and tries to move the conversation in another direction. Basically he did exactly what I would expect.

I just listened to this and I have to say... he shot down the Browns thing... but definitally wanted to get off of the UT topic and onto something else quickly. Made it seem very suspicious. If there wasn't any smoke there he would have probably just laughed about it and not forcefully wanted to move on so quickly

COME ON PEOPLE! If Gruden came out and flat denied the rumors on Mike & Mike, IT MEANS NOTHING!!!

Think to yourself, has ANY coach ever announced their new job on freaking Mike & Mike?

I think M&M asked the question half-jokingly because they already knew what Gruden would say.

Drink a beer or something, settle down!
