They asked if the offer rumor was true..he said the offer wasn't true and said he was happy doing what he is doing and didn't have time to get into that. he was clearly upset that they brought this up and stayed ill for most of the segment. I honestly took this as a good sign because this was his first real chance to shoot down these rumors for good and he just quickly brushed it off...very interesting!

what was the question that he said 'nah' to?

They asked him if he was being offered a stake in the Browns and just simply asked if there was any truth to it.....and he said no there wasn't and he was sorry about that and lets just move on I dont have time to get into that.... they sited the story from the news channel in Memphis when they asked him

Did you pay attention to what he said and how he sounded? Guess I should tell my wife, and I'm just tryin to keep the job I have now to be honest with you. He sounded very strange and almost shocked that his own network asked him that. You could tell he was very unprepared to answer questions about it. Call me crazy but I feel good about it. Remember Saban publicly denied going to bammer.

Will keep hope alive as I am an optimist---he never said he will not be the coach at UT but I think it is safe to say the Browns ownership is not part of the deal.
I think I will go back to working a little more and getting in here a little less. It either is going to happen or it is not. The longer no announcement possibly the better? I hope it is as soon as possible but for now, I guess it's time to get back to normal for awhile.
We either have him or we don't. As of now, he has gone on record and made it more ambiguous for all of us.

This sounds like the absolute best case scenario:

1) He's not going to break news on Mike and Mike. C'mon Man! The best case scenario is he'd give a really, really lukewarm denial.

2) He gave a lukewarm denial ... and not even to the job but rather to the terms!

3) Once he got in a quick blurb, he moved the conversation along. Look here Grudenites: The Grude is a smart man. He likes Tennessee (even if he doesn't want to coach here). He knows the scuffle this is causing. If he really had no interest, that was a perfect time to put it all to rest and do Tennessee a favor. By moving the conversation along, he made a very conscious decision to not take that opportunity.

4) It's the Grude in his natural Grudeitat - he knows what he's doing and he did it perfectly.

This denial means nothing

I'd say just the opposite....you don't address something that has no basis in reality....this was the first real sign from Gruden that things are happening.

I expect this will be the thread we find out one way or the other whether he's our coach...

If it is true and Hart is meeting with Gruden today, it is a formality. Nothing of substance will be decided in the meeting. All the substance would have been worked out prior. JMO

Greenburg wouldn't be doing his job if he didnt ask! So he had to ask.....i am sure Gruden was shocked....and came up with something quick....now if he puts out a public statment of denial.....that would be a different story!

I'm right here and will remain...Gruden=Tennessee

I am too. Just got the text while I was reading through the post of the morning and by the time I copy and pasted the post about Mike and Mike where here

Not that fast I guess. Wasn't trying to be a downer

You can't blame M&M for wanting to break the story. Now Gruden may and the Espn brass may not look to kindly on it. This sounds positive to me.

Gruden is not the type of guy to put anything "to rest".

He will keep all his options open if for nothing else but to play off of each of them to get the best deal he can.

Gruden would not reject UT publicly, he would just take another job.

I agree w/ the public statement part.

But you are wrong about being ill equipped for the question. The Grude is never shocked or unprepared. It's the Grude.
