LOL, I didn't include what you replied to, but my thinking is that announcing his hiring on ANYTHING other than Chucky's schedule is asinine. If ANYONE believes that UT will announce Jon Gruden coming here without Gruden agreeing to the timing is medicated.

exactly. USC probably makes more sense.. but nonetheless, some of the boosters at Auburn will probably talk with him. They have some problems that thank goodness we dont have - with NCAA just starting to crack the books there, and you dont know the full extent. Who wants to walk into that?
I would love to see him go to USC after the Kiffin fiasco two yrs ago.

Once the whole thing goes down it will be interesting to look back on it.

The misdirection is all coming from message boards. Believe it if you want or not.

I think the right answer might be the most simple explanation, and that would be this...

There never was any lock on Gruden. In fact the coaching search just started when Dooley was fired.

I'm not saying there wasnt back-channeling between boosters and Gruden, I'm simply saying Gruden was not a legitimate candidate until Hart began his official search.

Once the official search began, Gruden is/was on the list, but is/was in no way a lock. He's simply on the list, assuming he is in fact still on the list.

I think this whole thing could play out just like the AD is indicating. We could easily end up with a HC not named Gruden. I think you'll see that the "smokescreens" and "misdirection" are all not really there. Reality is often much more mundane than fantasy.

Again, just my opinion and I'll be interested in reviewing everything when the announcement is made.

Hart wants to make a splash imho....

If he hired Gruden straight out of the box, then it would be evident that it was not his show but booster run (ego thing),.

So If he appears to have done a complete search, and Gruden was HIS choice because he was the best candidate, then he becomes the hero and feeds the ego monster............again jmho

I agree with you, I also know this has been proven false and I concur. Being the conspiracy theorist that I am, I was just curious why he would not know this and/or is he trying to tell us something he was told from the long awaited phone call he received???

fyi: I have read almost every post in the Gruden threads (OCD when it comes to Vol Football) and I am a full blown believer we have Gruden but prior to coming here and reading thru Grudenmania. The threads have been entertaining (for the most part) and I believe for various reasons that the OG's have reputable information.

Maybe. I am just very critical of some of the hires given where some of the candidates may be, and the quality of our program. This needs to be a near-perfect hire. Tennessee football does not need to accept a #8 or 9 hire. Im tired of it, the fan base is tired of it... and its seroiusly affecting money, merchandising, recruiting and the overall momentum of this program.

Im surprised you put Stoops in there. Stoops would be an astronomically expensive hire. He would be good, but IMO we cannot afford that kind of buyout.

Keep trying. I am calling BS because they already know and they are only leaking tidbits of what they are allowed to. Leaking out that he lowered his offer is safe and makes them appear credible while they are being forced to appear lost...and can still be factual...saying he is "on the side" is BS and they are being forced to say it...what team in their right mind tells Gruden to "wait and see?"
