You're not being nosy, I like talking about the Icebears..Who's your favorite player?

Would probably be Fernandez; I don't get out to see them as often as I should since tickets are easy to get. Started as a casual fan of hockey when I saw the Washington Capitals a few times when I was stationed at Ft. Meade, MD. It is a great game, but not real popular in these parts.

Mine is Van Vliet and second would be Olauson..It's funny b/c I don't watch hockey on TV except during the Olympics..But I love going to the games..The fights make it more fun too and Segal was in one tonight during the 2nd period face off.:)

Yes. Message board grudges are the worst, because the stakes are so low.

But... but... someone could post angry emotipeople in your direction!

:finger3:

:) I'm not saying the people should be worried about it, but it seemed like the person I was responding to wants everybody to be polite.

I just doubt everyone will agree with his characterization if things don't pan out.

I like the fights, dancers, and the beer. Not necessarily in that order, lol.

Maybe not, but they have nobody else to blame but themselves.

The name of the forum specifically includes the terms rumor and speculation.

I assumed that most folks post with good intentions. Hell, I've heard about Gruden coming from all kinds of people.

I believe he is, but if he doesn't, I'm certainly not going to blame anybody here, or even anybody in the real world.

This is the nature of hiring a college football coach at UT.

If anyone has time, there is a documentary on YouTube on the 2002 Bucs. It is appx 45 mins long. Watch it if you get a chance. Chucky is one of those crazy geniuses. I want the man in orange.

Thanks for post... Awesome. I have to say I originally didn't think Gruden would even come. I also have wondered if he could make translation to college ball. I have been optimistic about Gruden, but still a little bit of doubt on wether he can actually perform at the expectation level we have. After watching that.....I have a full on Gruden chubby.....I am sold I will be a fan boy after all. That is just my kind of coach, and leader....if I am a player for TN Vols...I wouldn't even think about draft, I'd just be wanting to play for that man.....you'd never replace that experience.

My only concern is he had a good defense built, and more importantly he had Warren Sap as a defensive leader. We got to have some defensive leadership to make this work. I mean honestly the 98 NC was practically won by Al Wilson....he motivated, yelled at, and intimidated the entire team to win...or else risk dissappointing him. I hope he can find a DC, and more importantly a PLAYER who can be our Sapp/big Al again....we need someone like that to complete it.

I am totally sold on him though.....Gruden is everything I want to see in this organization in terms, of drive, "bounce", fierceness, swagger, and intellect on this game.....

I will say he's missed his true life's calling I'm afriad. Football is great and all, but he shoulda been a marine.

P.S. an A-train wouldn't hurt either.

Ya know I really get tired of the pile on DD. It's not classy, it's ignorant of the truth, and it's just mean.

Is he the level of coach we wanted? No.

Would any coach we wanted have taken the Lane train wreck he did? NO NO!

When DD got here it was practically Lord of the Flies, I mean when you got to start out with personal hygiene you got a ways to go. There was literally a bunch of kids that had NO discipline or order for awhile...

He restored order, he also recruited unexpectantly well considering his lack of background at this level. The reality check is whomever we hire will have a much easier time getting the program up and going because of his hard work laying at least a foundation to build on, where as Kiffin left a smoking infested hole......

Was he a great head coach? maybe not up to SEC standards yet, but someday he might be, and I think he could still do very well at lower ranks, he was just out of his league....he basically took a job that no one else wanted, and no one anyone here would be happy with would have taken.....when we were in a hole he helped.....he couldn't take it to the next level so he loses the job, but really piling on him as if he is remotely the cause of this mess I think is unfair......he DID leave this program in better shape then it was in, regardless of what current win loss record shows, and now Gruden can come in and not have an empty barn, with a few maltreated fungal incrusted players that Kiffin turned this place into.

I respect your view and understand it to a point. However, if the full story is ever told, you may change your views. Ask Cody Pope how good of a guy Dooley is.

Not trying to start anything at all. You presented your view with respect, and I hope you didn't take my reply as an attack. That wasn't my intention at all. :hi:

Well I hope I wake up to positive news in this thread....we're due for an all out positive day. Go vols, beat Kentucky and send these seniors out on a high note VFL GBO

Good Evening Grudes! Worn out from another long day at the office....how is everyone tonight...I assume there was a long day of eating leftovers for many...lol

This... some people wiuld be shocked. I just dont see how he got away with it when he shouldnt have been hired in the first place.

You won't see me casting any stones, but I think some readers of this thread are going to be angry if this thing turns out to be false.

Conclusions have been drawn, guarantees have essentially been made, on the premise that the person saying it was privy to information that the rest of us don't have. I think that implicitly asks readers to trust your conclusions.

:scare:

It was more for the one's that come in here angry now. I choose to believe because it would be great to have Gruden. I would hate to think that I believe people that I never met and on the internet, to the extent that I was mad at them. Holy cow. Are people really that gullible????

My brother works for Cadillac in Knoxville. He has delivered Escalades to coaches Sunseri, Dooley, and even Cutcliffe in NC. He will also detail an Escalade if a recruit is coming in for a visit. He said that usually for that they send the base model. However, he was told today to go and detail the nicest Escalade that they had because someone from UT was going to be using it to pick up a "very special guest" at the airport on Sunday. He also said it was an extended edition because they were probably bringing family. Now, this could obviously be any coach, but I just figured it was some nice information to pass along to my VN family.

Before this takes a down turn, I would like to repost how I believe the OG's have portrayed this deal.

I believe that the "insiders" in this thread have, at one time in this thread, said that "from what I am hearing, what I heard, I was told". So one should reason that this is all conjecture. Now some have quoted the "insiders" posts that said 100% or he is our next coach, and implied what you are saying. But if one would read the entire body of work, you would see that they are stateing, it as an opinion and not fact. Although thier sources may be powerful enough that they would choose to believe that it is indeed fact, based on who they know or heard it from. And most of them have stated that you can believe it or not.

Let me add that anyone is welcome to doubt. But, please don't post combative statements. You don't walk into churches and tell the congregation that they are stupid to believe because they have no sources. The OG's are not going to reveal their sources, so you can believe them or don't believe them. If you choose to not believe and expect details, then might I suggest that you move to a thread that you can enjoy. Be nice.

Good post

Thanks. Not listening to the pr!ckish stuff. I stand by what I've said. I'll do what I've said with one possible exception. When this happens I may not be as graceful to some of these internet egomaniacs as I initially said I would. They've more than earned it.

They got it the old fashioned way,

they earned it.
