Bcarter, I know you are high on Bray, but I can't see a 1st-2nd round grade after last night. Do you think he leaves regardless just due to being fed up with it all?

NFL goes by potential more than anything. It like the way they were raving about Tylers 55 mph passing last night. If he leaves he will shine at the combine. Not to mention he's 6'6 220 lbs. He has NFL size with an NFL arm. Matt Barkley isn't having an all world season either but I bet his stock hasn't dropped much if at all. Just because our team record sucks, winning doesn't always transfer from college to pros. Look at all the Heisman winning QBs that never made it in the NFL. An actual football coach that can coach is all that Tyler needs.

There can be an announcement and he can still finish MNF.

That me be counter to what they wanted to do, but their hand may be forced at this point.

Seems like it would be some sort of violation for a coach to be on National tv like that.. Seems like it would be some sort of recruiting advantage or something.

I truly believe DD did several things since the MSU game to say FU UT. He sabotaged the game last night by removing Bray. Made no sense to do that.

I've thought the exact same thing with all the bone head calls over the last several weeks.

From The Bleacher Report Nov 17...

Tennessee Volunteers head football coach Derek Dooley has been on an increasingly warm seat in recent weeks. The team has lost five of its last six games and lost each of the six SEC games it has played this season.

Tennessee has been awful in that regard this season, and it's likely going to cost Dooley his job. Furthermore, with Howard Eskin of Philadelphia's Sports Talk WIP claiming that Jon Gruden is looking to return to coaching, Tennessee could strike gold this offseason.

The reason Gruden is a great fit in Tennessee is because he would likely run a version of Oregon's spread-option offense.

After Gruden was fired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009, he spent a week with Chip Kelly in Florida learning the spread-option offense. We've all seen how effective the Ducks have been with their offense, and it should be no different for Gruden in the SEC

Tennessee Football: Vols Should Dump Dooley and Throw Wads of Cash at Jon Gruden | Bleacher Report

There's some great info on Chip Kelly's take on how the Spread-Option works from a technical sense. i found the story pretty interesting.

The success of Chip Kelly's Oregon Ducks offense is more familiar than it seems - Grantland

Unless Gruden is contractually obligated to finish the MNF broadcasts, I don't see how he or ESPN would see the benefit in him leaving his new employer hanging for this. It's critical to get in as early as possible, in order to assemble the staff and recruiting. That includes his new staff having to evaluate prospects. That only gives him 2mos to do all of this and hit the recruiting trail and attempt to salvage this class. They can have Jaws cover his last few broadcasts.

If Gruden ends up here, I think recruiting will take care of itself.

FG v Bama

Takes a knee with 40 sec. and 2 TO against Missouri.

Benches Bray while leading in the second quarter.

Is Devrin Young on the side of a milk carton???????

Bray has been very innaccurate this year and it's clear that he gets rattled when pressured a bit.

This is why I could not understand why he was so rushed against Vandy's undersized DL. Blitzes or not, he had a LOT more time to throw than he thought.

Bray would be a very late pick if at all. He has yet to show poise under pressure, and he will need to do that if he wants an NFL team to risk big money on him. If we get Gruden in here, I think all 3 players return.

He hurt himself last night pretty bad in the mental preparedness scorecard. Not sure now.

He really did. Last night was the climax of this sad reality show!

Time to start a new show!!!! A happy, comedy with lots of dynamic power and leadership!!!

It has been discussed quite a bit, but I think that it had been said that he was obligated to finish the MNF season.

As far recruiting goes, some more knowledgable posters said that as long as he is not talking about recruits, or talking about recruiting then there is no problem.

I am not sure, but I think that Urban Meyer still did Espn after he was hired.

Dooley = Bill battle II imho...look at all the simularities...now if Dooley does as Bill, he will be wealthy for life and get out of coaching all together

Battle couldn't best Auburn, Dooley can't best anyone big difference. I'd take Battle any day, and twice on Sunday over Dooley.

Bray's problem is he can't handle pressure. When they get in his face, he quits looking for receivers and just tries to get rid of the ball.
