Is this MOU we are discussing a legally biding agreement???

Before I turn into Doubting Thomas, I will say I have been very encouraged the past few days with the mortenson statements and the other smoke from the NFL side BUT

A MOU is not and cannot be a legally binding document for a job that is not legally an open job.

Anyone know if an MOU was ever signed by JG with the other rumored coaching spots the past few years then subsequently fell through? They say there was some interest with a few NFL teams and possibly Notre Dame.

Just curious if someone else has been at this point before.

This is what is ridiculous about these anecdotes:

I am saying, sometimes these things don't lead to finalized contracts.

People keep saying things like "well this one time a guy worked under one."

and

"This one time it worked and there was a contract."

I never said it couldn't be worked under.

I never said it never works out.

You are not understanding. A coach would not sign an MOU if he didn't want to take the job. It is not that difficult.

That said, I am NOT reporting that Gruden has signed one. I have no idea. I just know the legal ramifications.

You do not know the legal status of that job. People resign from jobs at the state level all the and continue to work for weeks and even months after. They do not have to inform the public right away.

I know this by state law a job must be posted before its filled. If a MOU is signed before the job is posted it's not worth the paper it's written on.

You gonna have to add a stoner smoking section to your bar before long?

The patio...

Man, I've seen people walking down the side walking flaming up without regard to the law. It's really not as much of a big deal here as it is to the rest of the world...the medicinal card has been around for several years. And all you have to do is limp into a dispensary to get a card.

I thought this too but turns out after a job reaches a certain pay grade this is no longer the case

First, I have never said that Gruden has signed an MOU. Second, if Dooley has been told that he will not return, then that may be sufficient notice to terminate his contract. Nothing says that his termination has to be made public.

An MOU is legally binding. Coaches only sign an MOU when they accept the job. It is not something that they sign just to talk further.

As the time arrives, lets take roll call and get together!!!!

I've got family in Eugene and a golf buddy in Portland. My friend has a broker who can get us a dozen or so tickets. The closer we get, let' me know and I'll see if I can't pull some strings. Bandon Dunes on Friday, VOLS on Saturday. Great weekend!

Where you at man? I'm moving to Washington State after the first of the year can't wait to be free to burn at will.

Have they set the tax rate on that stuff yet?

Tennis Elbow is a serious thing. Very painful to live with.

As I said earlier a MOU for a job that isn't legally open is worthless.
