My understnding is that MOUs can be binding if written that way, but more often they are not.

If the execution of the MOU is true (and do I believe Boro), then I don't see how Derek Dooley is still coach on Thanksgiving, or even past Sunday/Monday at the latest.

Its like leaving a deposit to hold a "big ticket item". What it means is there is a commitment between two parties as a precursor to a final contract. It is usually the final step before it becomes a fully binding legal agreement.

Thing is if you decide to not "buy" that big ticket item, you get your deposit back and no harm no foul. Kind of the same way, either party could back out with no ramifications, but usually they do not since it would be unprofessional to do so.

Well, ESPN is not a monolithic entity. The execs over MNF won't be happy, but I think that all the producers, editors, staff, etc will always consider him one of their own.

Do you really think that Tirico is going to avoid mentioning UT because Gruden left.

He was going to go somewhere and it is going to be a huge storyline that will play out for a long, long time.

How many times do you think he will be asked to make a gameday appearance? If they need a college coach for a spot, are they going to call Brady Hoke or Jon Gruden?

It's unclear if Gruden is planning a college or NFL return but since, for the moment, it seems he's asking NFL assistants about their interest, the NFL is his likely destination.

Looks like we're gonna have an NFL coaching staff.

I wonder if they can prohibit discussions for other jobs while the MOU is in effect? I seem to remember hearing that Saban originally wouldn't sign one because it prevented him from discussing other positions.

Any legal beagles know if that is possible?
