Pretty distraught that a gator has more likes than I do. Now I've gotta read some more negative tebow articles to feel better thanks a lot VN.

Isn't there a limit to their amount of giving??

Sure there is and this question is what happens if we have exceeded that amount

Dunno. Im just playing Devil's advocate. I think the boost of sales would more than make up any difference.

I just know they arent going to make any money on their own without a little "starting fuel"...

If your stakeholders arent happy...

Thanks for the answer. I think the key is pledges to the university if revenues aren't met after a period of time. That is much more risky than getting the money up front but I can't see it being legal to pay back money to a booster from a university. Intersting question for me but didn't get much attention on here!

I am thinking more in terms of a note from a booster to the athletic department that secures the future contributions legally much better than a simple pledge. Maybe we weren't thinking of the same thing. There would be no risk of a pledge not being honored if the booster contributes the note.
I understand what you are saying but a pledge is a pledge. Nobody here thinks any of our big donors are going broke but anything is possible.

And the difference is the where the money is in the respective entity!

I have agreed with Colin Cowherd a few times in my life. I think coaching college is easier than it is in the pros. He made the point a few years ago that pro coaches age like presidents. College coaches look years younger than they are.

Go check Bama's bank account.

And compare it to the Shula era.

I think the issue we'll have if Gruden does, in fact, take the job will be assistants and coordinators leaving.

If he can put together the kind of staff we all think we can...we'll have similar attrition on the staff the same we'll have juniors deciding to turn pro or stay.

We all agree the risk is minimal due to increased revenue with attendance but I don't think the university alone can assume that risk. The donors must step up huge and reports are they will.

Heard on radio this am Dooley was MH's #1. Sumlin and Golden were 2 and 3, respectively. Heather Harrington said it, so TIFWIW.

So that's why Chris Petersen and Will Muschamp turned us down prior to hiring Dooley.

Heather Harrington is a big mouthed drunk. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. If the choice was to listen to her for 10 minutes or be deaf the rest of my life, I would rather be deaf.

Maybe. I think the biggest downside will be dealing with NFL openings around year 3. There are some that are confident that this will be Gruden's last coaching stop. I'm not in that category.
