If Dooley is relieved of his position tomorrow and let's say Gruden is the intended target can Gruden go ahead and be named coach before his deal with mnf is up?

Or will we be without a head coach for a month waiting on this to happen? If so what does that month do to recruiting?

I know Dooley being here or not a couple weeks will have no bearing on recruits but I'm concerned for the month that we have no coach.

Tomorrow is the easiest day to do it. It becomes more difficult with each win, recruiting will hurt until the decision, and if we lose then everyone says, "Why didn't they just get it over with?"

Question (not a shot) are you saying the buyouts need to be worked out before a decision can be made or just nego completed?

Why is tomorrow a better day than say Tuesday?? just asking y.o.

1.) The coaches are going to want the security of knowing they'll get their full buyout. Which they're entitled to. It's just smart business.

2.) Get an interim in as soon as possible for practice purposes.

I don't have the answer to this question, but it seems to me that as long as Gruden wasn't asking out of the remainder of his MNF contract that he could be announced with no harm done...

But that's just me talking out of my arse.

Hopefully Hart is smart enough to get the right guy in place before making any public announcements. The current coach and the new coach can finish out whatever job they're on after the announcement and the recruits will know who the new coach is. If Hart can't do it that way we have the wrong AD. Personally I would love for Gruden to be the new coach but I think he would be dumb to give up that gravy job he has to start recruiting high school kids all the time and have to deal with boosters and fans.

The longer this plays out the more confident we should feel about Gruden. I think he wants to finish out the MNF season. NFL jobs worry me though but I think Dooley wont be canned till after Kentucky and we still have a good chance with Gruden still.

Thanks for the response and explanation. I'd love to have Gruden as much as the next vol fan but I hold my reservations like wise.

Guess we just have to ride this mule and see what happens

Did any of you metal heads go to the monsters of rock concert in the early 90's in Memphis. Was at the liberty bowl. Girl I went to high school with was on front page of commercial appeal on some dudes shoulders soaking wet from fire hydrants being turned on. She was sooooo hot too!!!

Music could be heard for 7 miles away
